Castillo was a bad ass

He should of been the focus of the show not Crockett and Tubbs.

Crockett and Tubbs are legends. But I’m in total agreement, Castillo was insanely badass and always stole his scenes. He easily could’ve had his own spin-off.

These three should have been the only major characters on the show. Zito, Switek, Gina, and Trudy were all utterly useless.

reply

At least Gina was nice to look at.

Agreed he brought gravitas. The guy before was a total cliche cigar smoking cornball.

I wonder what happened to Castillo after the final episode. It would have been a good spin-off idea.

I agree Castillo was awesome, but I'm glad he didn't get any more airtime or storylines than he got. And I'm glad there was no spinoff. Part of his mystique was the mystery that surrounded him. With Castillo...less is more. Overexposure would dilute that mystique.

One of my favorite Castillo scenes is in one of his first episodes (One Eyed Jack). Tubbs walks up to him and says: "Man, who's side are you on, anyway?" To which Castillo calmly says: "Don't ever step up to my face again, detective."
The way he says it....you know he MEANT it.

I came here to say essentially the same thing. Olmos was fantastic in this role. He was the balls of Miami Vice. He was the savage bite behind the growl. He was the rhythm guitar to Crockett’s and Tubb’s lead axes. Overexposure would have ruined him.

Always leave ‘em begging for more😈

What happened to Castillo? Anything that he wanted to!

He was by far my favourite character in the whole series.
