On a scale of 0-10 how did you like this movie?

I give "A Christmas Story" a 10/10, for me Christmas isn't complete without watching this movie.

A perfect 10! I can quote it line for line. 😄 I was exactly “Ralphie’s” age the year this movie came out. It holds a lot of nostalgia for me.

reply

8/10. Really like it.

reply

8/10 one of the few family movies I actually enjoy.

9.5/10 By far, my favorite Christmas movie. The only shows/movies I enjoy almost as much are the Rankin/Bass Rudolph & Santa Claus is Coming to Town and just about any version of A Christmas Carol.

reply

+1 on just about any version of A Christmas Carol.

It's such a great story, and when Christmas comes around I always cycle through the '51, '84 and '99 versions.

Every few years I'll also re-read the book.

Love every scene

4 I was bored, irritated, didn't like the dad, didn't like the way everyone treated Ralphie, didn't like seeing what the 1940s was like for a kid in elementary school, and it did not make me feel happy.

Someone's grumpy.

9/10. The only Xmas movies I love more are Albert Finney's "Scrooge" and "The Bishop's Wife" with Cary Grant. However, A Xmas Story is the only movie that I return year after year to discuss on a forum, so it's got a special place in my heart.

I have a psychological block against giving any film a perfect 10, so these days I prefer to grade films on an A-F scale.

And in that case, it's a solid A.

It has a special blend of humor, heart and nostalgia that makes it a genuinely special film.

Plus, I love the fact that the story revolves around getting a Red Ryder. I was also obsessed with getting a BB gun when I was a kid and ended up getting a Red Ryder just a year or two after I first saw A Christmas Story.
