BEST BOND FILM OF MOORE

2nd only to Goldfinger ---

My favourite is The Man With the Golden Gun, but this one is good

I really love the beginning and end of TMWTGG, but most of the stuff in the middle is kind of lame. And Goodnight is one of the worst Bond Girls ever, even if she's played by a very beautiful actress. Bond is put through more danger and inconvenience from her incompetence than from the actual villain of the film. Bond doesn't seem to even like her that much so it seems strange when they get together in the end, almost like he should be babysitting her instead of sleeping with her. But there's no other female around for him to bang as he traditionally does just before the credits roll.

"Dan Marino should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell. Would you like a cookie son?"

In my opinion Live and Let Die is his best but TSWLM is a good Bond film!

reply

I think that TSWLM and FYEO are the best Roger Moore Bond movies.

Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night.

reply

The Spy Who Loved Me is still my favorite Bond movie, even after all these decades. It was just FUN!

reply

I'd rank it a top 5 Bond movie.

reply

It's my favorite of the Moore era as well, closely followed by For Your Eyes Only.

reply

Choosing the best Moore Bond film is like naming your favorite flavor of dung. Moore does not belong in the Bond catalog.

reply

Not your cup of tea, is that right? That’s most unfortunate.

reply

Not unfortunate at all. I dislike jokey, effete Bonds. I like REAL Bonds.

reply

I think it's Moore's worst actually, and one of the very worst overall.

reply

Objectively it may be the best of Moore’s, but I enjoy Live and Let Die and For Your Eyes Only more.

reply

I ranked this one 6th (Behind Goldfinger, Thunderball, For Your Eyes Only, Casino Royale and Skyfall).

you know, i never thought of goodnight in that way before, but it's spot on. i keep reading how moore is a softer bond than connery, but many has brought up on this board how he just drops the guy from the roof top, in "the man with the golden gun" he slaps around andrea, that was probably the worst part, and remember in "for your eyes only" he kicks the car down the cliff on a guy begging for mercy if i recall right. this is going to air on television tonight, many, including moore himself (at least that's what i read), have this as their favorite of the moore flicks, i actually find this a bit dragging on if i recall right and probably prefer his previous two (live and let die, the man with the golden gun), final bits in movies often have a way of dragging out i find, the soundtrack to this i often listen to, it's one of the most diverse, i know both critics and regular viewers completely puts down "moonraker" and describes bond as turning into a cartoon role in space, but actually i like it, it's fast paced, entertaining with great photography and locations, could've done without the dogs and girl scene though, also that movie wasn't suppose to happen after "the spy who loved me", if you read the end credits it says "james bond will return in for your eyes only", moonraker only happened because the popularity of "star wars". moore was good at the dramatic scenes, as when his deceased wife is being brought up. "take me around the world one more time, james".

wasnt till your forms walked back in,
realised why i always drop at your feet,
cant break spell lost my sense,
as perfect madeleine knocked me silly again,
like facing a southpaw,
your magic figure cant figure out.
