Paranormal Activity and It Follows are NOWHERE near Top 5 material.
It Follows is good though... PA is crap.
I would place The Shining at #2.
Yeah we both posted pretty much the same thing. I suspect most people will be saying this exact same thing if not close to it.
shareVery deserving as it's an absolutely phenomenal film IMO. Nothing has ever come close to The Exorcist!

Never rated the Exorcist. Thought it was boring. I preferred Legend of Hell House which came out the same year.

shareI don't think it's generational at all. I know a lot of people younger than myself that love The Exorcist. I think it's individual taste.

shareIt's funny you say slow paced because I feel that a lot of what's put out now is slow paced, except these days it's called "slow burn," and I find I don't have the patience to finish watching most of them.

It is not extremely slow paced. I know a 26 year old who loves it and read the book immediately after watching. There are plenty of movies even slower than The Exorcist. I think the Exorcist has good pacing. What makes the movie so good is its pacing, acting, and cinematography.
btw Shining isn't a good movie.
