Excerpts from hubby's memior

According to the book, she initially thought Andy was the Queen's assistant when she first met the Queen. I am like WTH! Even if you have limited knowledge of the royals you know that. Didn't Harry tell her about his family when they were dating. In addition, they double dated with Eugenie and James early in their relationship. Something does not add up.

In addition, she greeted Kate and Will for the first time in Toronto , dressed in torn jeans barefoot. I understand her "hippie casual vibe is part of her personality, but didn't she realize first impressions count?Especially when greeting your future royal in laws. It wasn't like they surprised her. Second, why would Harry put her mistakes in his book? It makes her looks bad.

reply

According to every single anecdote, Harry apparently never informed Meghan about his family, protocol, British customs or just manners in general. And Meghan supposedly never took any interest in learning anything about these things (even though she has always wanted to be a princess). Do they expect us to believe this? I remember Harry scolding Meghan on the balcony for looking back over her shoulder and she immediately corrected herself (albeit with utter shock). These two are not naive.

reply

I can believe that. How true this is, I don't know, but there have been countless reports of her resenting the rigid rules of protocal. I can imagine, to an outsider it is tough, but it does seem she really resented all the rules. I recall seeing pics of her at events early in the marriage and she looked miserable.

reply

Nope, I can not believe Harry shared no information with her whatsoever, unless he wanted her to make a bad impression. The balcony scene shows he does at least care somewhat.

As for Meghan resenting protocol, I think she does so on purpose. She lied about not knowing how to curtsy.

reply

You are right, she mentioned once Fergie was kind enough to show her.

reply

MM was friends with Eugenie before she met H. No way she didn’t know who Andrew was.

reply

She resented rules like royals cannot accept freebies from designers, retailers, etc. She resented not being permitted to merchandise her Duchess of Sussex “brand,” she resented having to attend boring events, like stops at nursing homes to cheer up the elderly and folks cut off from the world.

She wanted to cherry pick all her official engagements, and attend only glitzy glamorous red-carpet events like premieres and other celebrity gatherings.

reply

I hate to say it, but I agree with you. One entertainment reporter stated she is a hard to please person. Who knows.

reply

I can believe it, because Meg seems to be a crap social climber! I mean the first rule of social climbing is that the climber is the one who learns to fit in with the people they're climbing towards, and you don't expect high society or freaking royalty to do things the middle-class way. But she seems to have refused to learn to do things the royal way.

She also thought she knew better than the palace's press office, about how to deal with the media, hah! They're only the best in the world.

reply

"But she seems to have refused to learn to do things the royal way."

Yes, she has refused it. I believe that's a conscious decision by her and not the result of naivity.

reply

It's entirely possible that the whole relationship was based on getting Harry out of the royal family, where he'd been unhappy and resentful for years. She didn't learn, because Harry didn't want her to learn, he wanted her to get him the heck out of there and live up to all her big talk about earning a princely fortune through merchandizing their fame!

Or maybe she's just a crap social climber, but if I'm right I really wonder how things are going now, now that they aren't as popular as they expected to be, and aren't social media royalty.

reply

True, they have been doing it for decades.

reply

Who is 'Andy'? Prince Andrew the paedophile?

As for her wearing torn jeans and being barefoot when meeting Kate and Will it's a non-issue. Popcorngal you seem to give a lot of respect for 'royal customs' and treating them with the utmost respect and politeness. I don't subscribe to that so while I understand you think it reflects badly on her for not being dressed up that's a you thing, for me Meghan comes across okay from all of these exerpts however I appreciate the fact it's her husband telling the stories and they would of course have the strong possibility for bias.

reply

Not all customs but some.

reply

Yep I was referring to Prince Andy.

reply

ON THIS WE AGREE.🙂

reply

Hey, genius, I think aristocracy is bullshit and they all should be stripped of the wealth they have stolen and sent to prison.
Should I ever think of joining a royal family?

Or maybe, if I don't subscribe to that, I should avoid the whole deal and be coherent and honest, instead of presenting my ignorant, arrogant, rotten self barefoot and with torn jeans at a formal introduction to a gang I aspire to join?

Fuck, that torn jeans and being barefoot would be disrespectful to me, and I am an easygoing fella, let alone these people.
What sort of trash would find that acceptable?

reply

Strange that he was attempting to exonerate Saint Meghan and only ended up making her look worse in his book. She's doing a good job setting him up for divorce, which looks imminent this year.

reply

I hope not, that will definitely send him over the end, then again maybe not, he might be hurt, but be civil. I hope they stay married. The royals do not take divorce lightly.

reply

They would cheer and make a new holiday if these two split up. They'd call it "Meghan Liberation Day," or "Deliverance from Evil Day."

reply

Be nice. I think they love each other, despite both acting kooky at times. Maybe Harry is going through early midlife crisis, the big 40 is approaching!

reply

I don't know if they love each other, but they sure seem to fit each other's needs!

In that those two bring out the worst in each other. When they're together they can agree that every little petty thing they've ever suffered is not only someone else's fault, it's something the whole world wants to know about! And would sympathize with, if they only knew!

reply

Both have feelings that "daddy betrayed me and does not love me issues. LOL! In addition, Harry has lost his beloved grandparents a year apart. They and his mom were a trio he felt the most attachment to. LOL to think this crap will go down in royal history!

reply

These two are endlessly entertaining, telling a world full of people who will never be able to own a home that they need to feel sorry for the guy that got (gasp of horror) the second-best bedroom in a palace!

I think they'll be together for a long time, a genuine folie au deux creates a very strong bond. Even if they disagree and fight, and I expect those twerps do, neither will be able to find anyone else who not only willingly puts up with their shit, but gleefully chows down on it.

reply

I so agree with you on this perspective. I am not sure when Norway's Mary Louise will marry Durek, the last time I read he was facing health issues. But it will be fun hearing about their hot messes as well. But the UK royals are the creme de la creme of monarchy hot mess peeps! I bet Edward and Wallis are smiling down thinking "hey we starte this"

reply

Those two are SO Edward and Wallis, the Sequel.

reply

They don't live together anymore, and every time they have been seen together without cameras watching, people have reported hearing them fighting. Doesn't sound like a loving couple to me.

reply

All couples fight, I am sure all the other royal happy couples argue too, it is all part of being human.

reply

Not like those two. She's the type who throws things and hits people when she doesn't get what she wants. If Meghan had truly loved Harry, she wouldn't have forced him to give up everything just so she could go on a fool's errand to "make it big" in Hollyweird. She wouldn't blown through his inheritance with all her spending either, including buying PR firms and a house they couldn't afford. She wouldn't have turned him against his own family, the very people who took care of him his whole life. She also wouldn't have bullied his niece at the dress fittings, if she truly loved him. She also wouldn't be sleeping with an 86-year-old rich guy down in L.A. to get money from him while hubby was out of town. Harry honestly doesn't know what love is, beyond what he feels for his dead mom and himself. He thinks Meghan loved him for him, but honestly, she only married him because he was a "rich" prince. If he were a commoner, she wouldn't have even looked twice at him.

reply

Where the hell did you read about her sleeping with an 86 year old?!

reply

Just look up Meghan and Gordon Getty on a search engine, and you'll know all about what her next plans are. His family is concerned that she'll trick him out of some of his money, and he's currently worth $2.2 billion.

reply

OMG THIS IS GREAT!!! Is this a real except from "Spare"? I mean, can this possibly be for real????

I would like to hear her explanation regarding greeting her future in laws dressed so casually. I can understand if she greeted them dressed liked that now since she has been married for a few years. But not at a first meet and greet.
