And another nomination and still no Oscar

:(

she's 0 for 6

I can't even remember who won best actress last year. The fact that Amy is routinely recognised, albeit as a 6-time nominee, should be taken as a positive.

Which actor would not wish to be held in at least as high regard as Glenn Close and Deborah Kerr.

reply

Yeah that's true.

So what? Oscars don't mean shit.

reply

Which means she's successfully avoided the "Oscar curse"!

Seriously, very few actresses are able to keep their careers going after they pass forty, and here she is working constantly and getting recognized every Awards Season. She's doing everything right.

reply

She'll get one eventually. I think she has lots of talent, but she will get one eventually solely based on the "she has been around a while and nominated a bunch of times so let's give her one" category. Not saying she might not deserve it, but it will more than likely be the other reason.

Well, as one who thinks these awards are just irrelevant, made up and stupid. Just organizations patting themselves on the back and totally based on politics and whims. There is no hard criteria for getting one of these made up, fake awards...I'd say.....so what.

Oscars?

No one should care, especially the actors themselves.

I am in line with Jerry Seinfeld's stance on awards and award shows.

Totally agree.

For some weird reason, people get a sentimental attachment to movies and if their favorites win, it's a "win" for them as well, as if their love of the movie is then justified.

I've never watched a single episode, except the youtube video of Ricky Gervais skewering the "stars". The thought of these privileged entitled weirdos patting themselves on the back is something that doesn't interest me in the least.
