Walked away from Hollywood

now mostly does remote voice work for cartoons and commercials.

It's quite strange considering his film career happening right along and costarring with box office heavy weights like Fat Damon and Ben Afflict

There's an older thread here that states Scientology but I don't follow who is or was in that cult.

my name is early was the most annoying crap tv show ever

reply

It was cheap retail comedy for sure, but I am still perplexed that his career went down the TV sitcom path after he was doing some breakthrough cinema roles in the late 90s/early 2000s, then ends up as Earl and the Chipmunks' manager.

reply

c'mon he only had one good role, almost famous that was pretty much it. the highlight of his career.

reply

He actually had a few good roles. You seem eager to bury him for good.

reply

How dare you,My Name Is Earl was awesome!

reply

Earl was a decent comedy.

Just makes me respect Jason Lee that much more. For an old guy, he can fucking shred on a skateboard.

Yes, some of the clips are from when he was young, but there are also clips that show Jason "greybeard" Lee. Dude is around 50 and can do that shit.

reply

Jason had a good run of film roles but never struck me as having much range. I liked him in My Name Is Earl too.

Maybe the kinds of roles he was good at playing dried up or were taken by more talented competish.

reply

I think he could have done a much better job and has more range than actors like Ashton Kutcher, Breckin Meyer, Jimmy Fallon, Orlando Bloom, and Justin Long. All these guys were getting loads of roles in the 2000s and bombing spectacularly YET kept getting more roles after roles. That's all I'm saying

reply

Walked away or was excluded by Hollywood? 🤔

You can't keep doing the kind of comedic leading roles he did in the 2000s in your 40s.
He was great in Almost Famous. He's just need to be given a chance to show his dramatic chops.
