Piper Laurie has passed away aged 91.
Her most memorable movie roles imo are her moving performance in The Hustler and her mother from hell in Carrie. She also had a notable role in Twin Peaks.
Just a few days ago I rewatched the Frasier episode in which Laurie plays the mother of Christine Baranski’s radio shrink. Laurie is only in the final scene, but she is hilarious in the episode. A fine actress indeed. R.I.P.

Her character and Benjamin Horn's chemistry in Twin Peaks...incredible. I smile just thinking about her slapping him.

She was brilliant in “The Hustler” and scared me to death in “Carrie” as the psychotic religious fanatic mother.
That insane smile she has on her face when she’s walking towards her daughter with that knife in “Carrie” was truly one of the most frightening movie moments I’ve ever experienced.
She will be missed.
