Retired !!

I just found out she retired from acting!! What!! I love her! What happened to bad teacher 2!?

It'll probably never come to fruition. Cameron made it a point that she's retired and not taking any roles, period.

I'd say it's a good move on her part. The last film I saw with Cameron in it was The Other Woman (2014). Terrible movie. Wasn't even funny in the slightest, and I'm a sucker for rom-coms.

I hope she enjoys retirement. She's been working since 16 years of age. Hard to imagine not getting burned-out at some point.

1. She wasn't making hits - Bad Teacher was Diaz's last hit as the leading actor, and that was nearly a decade ago. Her other turns weren't successful and she's had to face the bad news of limited roles and smaller paychecks.

2. She's not a very good actor - Cameron Diaz isn't a dramatic actor, she's not a Shakespearean, she can do comedy, but not that well; and she's apparently not attracted to arthouse fare. Basically, even if Diaz was interested in a wider range of roles, she lacks the skills to take them.

3. She's getting older - Hollywood believes that most female actors over 40 are mothers and grandmothers, not love interests, nor “sex kittens". Some actors accept that, some struggle with it, and some just walk away from the business if they can. Diaz seems to have taken that third option.

4. The checks were getting smaller - Very few actors are making the money that was routinely available back in the 1980s and the 1990s. Without a proven track record of success, you simply cannot command amounts that you formerly earned and Diaz no longer has that ability. Why do the same work or more for less money?

5. The public's ardor for her cooled considerably - The public simply “fell out of love" with Cameron Diaz. It happens quite frequently, especially when an actor ages, and doesn't have a number of financial successes at the box office. If Diaz had kept “hitting“, or had she taken a role on television, she might've been able to reinvigorate her career and herself. She didn't and the fickle movie going public looked elsewhere.

Hurray. That means Shrek is definitely dead.

I’d cut the head off, fill the mouth with garlic and ram a wooden stake through heart, just to be certain. Aw, hell, immolate the corpse, to be on the safe side.
