East Coast Earthquake: Uncle Shogie and MovieChat New Yorkers/East Coasters

Media nonsense or did anyone feel this 4.8?

Just a Californian here checking on my MC brothers and sisters …hope all is well. I hope Uncle Shogie can make his Movie Club event tonight. But if this quake shook Shogs’ house and sent liquor bottles flying and breaking, oh shyt…..

reply

Yeah, we sure did feel it, supposedly the biggest in our area in over ten years..
My was was 40 miles and my kids sixty miles away and we ALL felt it. Crazy man!

Taiwan really got messed up the other day by a big one.

reply

Okay, sound like you’re good….dishes, kitchenware, the fifth of Jack, are they all safe?

Cheers, I’ll have a drink with you tonight uncle shogs on this glorious Friday….

reply

Drop by the MCMC and we’ll cheer.

reply

You got a good event there, Stoney Stone…I can multitask, but unless it’s a movie I’ve watched hundreds of times, I don’t like to post while watching. Plus, I don’t have much experience with the horror genre, which appears to be the predominant theme.

But maybe one day….

Cheers….

reply

Poolhall junkies is not a horror. ;)

reply

Is that a past selection or is it coming up?

Never watched but I would. I’ve actually met the director Mars Callahan a few times; he really can shoot and not a bad poker player either. I have a few friends that love that movie even though they say parts of it are ridiculous. But “ridiculous” never disqualifies a flick; my repeated viewings of Cobra (1986) and Road House (1989) can attest to that….

Salut!

reply

Oh no, no damage, just a bit of a big rattle.

reply

AS A LIFELONG CALIFORNIAN...I KEEP SLEEPING THROUGH EARTHQUAKES...SO BORING.

reply

Same, unless I’m already awake, it’s like it didn’t happen

Still don’t like ‘em….I always hope I’m on the road traveling when this “Big One” hits….supposedly, we’re overdue…but alarmist/sensationalist media will still feed us this shyt…..

Cheers…

reply

My sister moved to the East Coast several years ago, and she messaged me today saying everyone in her neighborhood over there was freaking out despite it not even being a 5.

reply

As a lifelong Earthling, please go back to your home planet.

reply

I MAY BE AN ALIEN...BUT I HAVE BEEN HERE LONGER THAN YOU EARTHLING...ANCIENT ALIENS!@@!@!@

reply

I moved away, but I do remember the 2011 one, which was 5.8 but much further away than the one that just happened. My bar stool felt wobbly and I said I think it's an earthquake (I had been in a couple small quakes before but not NYC). No one could believe what I was saying but then some hanging light fixtures started swaying a bit. Wild.

reply

Yes

reply

Based on the response of Uncle Shogie, I’ll take your “yes” as you felt it….hope all is well, Deniro

But the media nonsense could still come….Brian Williams can always say he was in a field at the epicenter when it shook and just narrowly missed getting hit by a falling tree…..then later we’ll hear he was at the studio getting his makeup applied….

Cheers….
