films you started but never finished?

What are some films you've started watching but never finished for one reason or another? For me, I chose to divide mine into two categories:

Ones I Enjoyed and Will Go Back to Some Day:

The Abyss
WALL·E
The Adventures of Tintin
Elle
My Fair Lady

Ones I Didn't Enjoy and Probably Will Never Return to:

Reds
The English Patient
The Big Short
Hail Mary
Network

What's yours?

I’m an Anthony Hopkins fan so when I heard he directed a film starring Christian Slater called Slipstream I rented it.

It was excruciating to watch. It’s very abstract and full of mental camerawork, editing snd crazy visuals. It gave me a headache and I couldn’t get past half way.

I’m a completionist but I really can’t be arsed to find it and finish it, not that I can even remember what the fuck happened in it.

Hopkins needs to stay in front of the camera.

Super Troopers, honestly I got bored.

I really liked that one. The same people also made Club Dread which was a goofy slasher send up. Ever see that one?

reply

I didn’t, but I can say Super Troopers was the most unfunny comedy I have ever seen.

I did see Prom Night and that wasn’t a good slasher film at all because if you put the horrendous soundtrack aside at the end we should have been rooting for the killer the whole time.

reply

I agree, "Super Troopers" sucked big time! Disappointing, because being from Vermont I really wanted to like it, but it simply wasn't funny to me in the least...

Yeah back in college I was watching it with a group of friends (all of whom found it hilarious) and after the opening scene one of them was like “yes that is the funniest part also”, and I’m like “uhhhh that’s the funniest part? I didn’t’ laugh at all”

The Abyss !!?!?!

how can you leave that unfinished?

reply

I remember I really liked what I saw of it from a few years back, but by the time I started watching it, it was already overdue from when I borrowed it from the library. I love most anything Jim Cameron's directed (with the exception of maybe the Avatar films) so I'll definitely be returning to it.

One movie I have seen all of, but never in a single viewing is Twister.

Back when I watched TV the traditional way - cable or dish - I would always seem to catch it at some random part. Then I'd always have some other obligation that prevented me from finishing it. If I combined all the parts I have seen together, I've seen every part of the movie, just not at once.

Stay tuned

However, I plan to finish them.

Borat: I couldn't stand it

The Irishman: Began watching it but didn't have the time and so I turned it off after about 30 minutes. I want to continue but it's been so long I'd have to begin anew for continuity's sake. Because it's got a running time of a half a decade, I'll likely have to wait till I retire in order to have the free time.

I walked out of the theater during Love Actually. It was absolute garbage.
