Can Americans tell me what your fascination is with those Stanley cups?

And I'm not talking about the prize you get in the NHL. There is a frenzy going on with these stupid cups. Y'all are animals I tells ya! Animals!

Side note: why are they calling them cups when they're closer to mugs?

reply

A few months ago there was a video of someone's car engulfed in flames and not only did the cup survive, but there was still ice in it. This went viral because people are stupid and now everyone wants one, which has led to "resellers" hoarding them to sell online.

reply

Yep, that's the video. I don't understand how people can be so dumb. Do they really feel left out if they don't join some stupid trend? I actually kind of feel bad for people who owned these cups before it was cool.

reply

I think a couple of woman bloggers said they liked them and started this trend now all women have to have them.

reply

It was from a TikTok. See Padeen's comment above.

reply

True but it's a woman thing.

reply

Apparently, my 9 year old daughter got given one on her last birthday by one of her school friends.

reply

She had it before it was cool.

reply

Apparently so, I had no idea.

reply

Its a 'bring out your stupids' test run by the MIC. A roaring success.

reply

MIC?

reply

Militarah Industrtrahl Complaix, son.

reply

I don't get it myself and looks no better than the one I got from Starbucks

reply

There probably is no difference. It's people just wanting to be part of a fad.

reply

It's a psyops to get people to become part of the alphabet crowd or communist crowd.

The cup should have been silver but no....

reply

I never heard about it until yesterday. It reminds me of the Cabbage Patch Kids.

Supposedly it all started with a video where a car caught on fire and one of these cups was inside and survived the fire.

reply

Yeah, that's the vid. I don't know why people are willing to spend their money just to buy a conversation piece.

reply

it continues for some reason

reply

I saw an article where a 9-year old girl was bullied because she brought a regular mug to school. Kids think these are some high end mugs.

reply

i gatorade bottles that are 25 years old. what's the big deal?

reply

You know how kids are. Sadly the adults are starting to act like them.
