Pick the best movie of 2023

I've watched Oppenheimer and all, I also avoided a lot of movies by their titles and the posters but all in all the best one for this year was The Killer.

I haven't watched Napoleon because it coming to digital next year so I consider it 2024 movie

What's your favorite this year?

reply

reply

The Creator(2023)

reply

I didn't watched this movie despite it is sci fi (a genre that I like) and despite its IMDb rating which is high, because I suspected woke and it seems I was right

reply

its not woke its relevent WATCH IT

reply

OK I will, then I will express an opinion

reply

I honestly haven't watched many movies from 2023, at least none of the big movies. According to Letterboxd, the 2023 movies I rated the highest (outside of Hallmark) were El Conde, and Totally Killer.

reply

You don't miss much, I only suggest The Killer for this year

reply

My top 20:

1. Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.
2. The Little Mermaid
3. Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields
4. Oppenheimer
5. The Killer
6. Knock at the Cabin
7. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
8. May December
9. M3GAN
10. The Holdovers
11. Maestro
12. You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah
13. Cocaine Bear
14. The Slumber Party
15. The Color Purple
16. Asteroid City
17. Killers of the Flower Moon
18. No Hard Feelings
19. Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie
20. Stamped from the Beginning

reply

M3GAN was good but it was a 2022 movie

reply

Was theatrically released in 2023. Most people watched it in 2023. It's nearly the same rule you arbitrarily assigned for Napoleon

reply

If that's the case then it pass as a good movie of 2023

reply

I will do a top ten

1. Napoleon (gonna be a Kingdom of Heaven situation where it's a classic in 15-20 years, mark my words)
2. The Holdovers
3. Asteroid City
4. May December
5. The Killer
6. Killers of the Flower Moon
7. American Fiction
8. Oppenheimer
9. Air
10. Past Lives

Best movie year we've had for a long time, have a top ten where I feel good about all the movies which hasn't happened since like 2015 maybe.

reply

I have high hopes for Napoleon, Ridley Scott can't go very wrong, I will watch it as soon as it comes out in digital

reply

I'm looking forward to Napoleon as well.

reply

Killers Of The Flower Moon
Knock At The Cabin
The Killer
John Wick 4
The Covenant

I have yet to see Ferrari, Oppenheimer, Napoleon and Maestro but they all look pretty good.

reply

Killers Of The Flower Moon is too American themed, not so much of interest in the other side of the Atlantic so I didn't watched it, but must be a good movie according to IMDB score

reply

Well, it is a movie about a real series of murders that happened in America so...Kind of to be expected it would be American themed.

reply

I didn't see many new movies this year.

Best:
John Wick 4
Thanksgiving

Worst:
Barbie
Expendables 4

reply

John Wick 4 was a fun movie equivalent to the previous movies but easily forgettable and one of the same again

reply

Oppenheimer, hands down. It should win the Oscar.

😎

reply

It was an OK movie, historical, informative, but I don't want to watch again, it will probably get the oscar but that doesn't mean much
