Have you done axe throwing? Is it any fun?

I want to check it out.

There's one in downtown Reno not far from me. I was in the place but did not partake. I find the combination of alcohol and axe throwing somewhat odd. OTOH it does seem to be quite popular.

IT'S THROWING AN AXE...TECHNICALLY IT'S WORK....ONLY WAY IT COULD FUN IS IF YOU ARE THROWING YOUR AXE AT A PERSON...ADD A LITTLE EXCITEMENT.

i had fun. it was BYOB too. drunk axe throwing doesn't get much crazier than that.

i think the women actually did better than the men at first. because your lead/step foot is the same as your throwing hand for hatchets. unlike throwing a baseball or football.

reply

interesting . why would it be different?

reply

i think it keeps your arm straight so the hatchet spun straight end over end, it sticks better. baseball style didnt stick as well. probably because it spun at an angle.

its essentially a big novelty version of darts. you kinda throw it like a dart too. we had one hand hatchets, not 2 handed large axes.

reply

just once. hurt myself pretty good. my arm was numb and I couldn't feel my fingers for a week. definitely pinched some nerve clusters or something. i'm not very athletic.

YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO THROW THE AXES AT THE WOOD ...NOT EACH OTHER...JEEZ,MAN...YOU'RE LUCKY TO BE ALIVE.

I used to know a guy who was a biker. He told me about a pub, where after a few drinks the guys would go out back and blow off steam by throwing axes at an old Volvo. That always struck me as funny. Payback for all the caravaners on the motorways, I guess!

Yes I have been to a bar in my town that has axe throwing. I went once with Friends and another time with coworkers. It's a lot harder than you might think.

Does a plastic axe at Costco count?

Me and some random stranger both gave it a go - mine went into the next aisle - oops.

reply

Funny that you axe. Yes it is fun - people make it very challenging, with all their feints & dodges - you have to learn to feint your throw and catch them going t'other way. That's what I've learned, down the years. You could say its my axiom of axing.
