Did You Watch the Coronation?

Yay or nay?

I realized it's basically "grand spectacle" - centuries old entertainment before TV. After each oath, dramatic music played. Most of the coronation was a music concert. The important people wore capes.

I believe only France would've been able to compete with British pomp and ceremony if they hadn't guillotined their royals.

I couldn't help but think about Diana spinning in her grave especially when Camilla was crowned.

I watched it, but now I'm curious to see Queen Elizabeth's coronation for comparison.

A little bit, about 90mins, from 2:30-4a, on & off . Did watch all of the presentments of the vestments, including the crowning. Tuned out after that.

reply

I didn’t (I’ll probably watch a 1 minute roundup on the news later).

My daughter went to a Coronation party at her friends house.

No. In part because it's not terribly interesting to me, so I wouldn't have watched it anyway; but also in part because I thought it was on Monday... which only further demonstrates my lack of interest in it, I suppose.

reply

I genuinely didn't even know it was happening.

I feel the about the coronation the same way I felt about the royal weddings, I just don't care.

I don't have a hatred towards them or anything like that. I just have zero interest in anything to do with them

reply

No.

Why support people who think they're better than you just because they fell out of a certain twat?

reply

That made me laugh.

reply

Caught the 'highlights'.

reply

No, it didn't interest me.

reply

I watched a bit of it but I found it incredibly boring.
