Who's your favorite musical artist?

Like #1 on your list. Mine at the moment is Hollywood Undead

Siouxsie and the Banshees, though they are now defunct.

Hey, it counts.

Big Siouxsie fan here. They're still touring though, not defunct.

reply

Well, she doesn't have the whole band with her, though they did go through some changes through the years. And they haven't put out an album since 1995, though she, herself put one out more recently. Okay, I'll go with not defunct.

reply

Well, obviously they're long past their prime. I saw them back in the 80's.

But yeah, one of my favorite punk bands.

reply

See, I like them better as a goth band. And that part (the violins and cellos) is gone now.

reply

How are the violins and cellos gone? Can you explain? I haven't followed their changes.

Interesting also that Siouxsie & the Banshees saw the transition from punk to New Wave.

reply

Well, the band has scaled down. It's only Siouxsie and Budgie and they call themselves, The Creatures. Although, I think I did read that Steven Severin did rejoin them to tour. Anyway, Martin McCarrick played those instruments left the band along with Severin and John Klein after their last official album, The Rapture, which came out in 95.

reply

Hmmm, I just googled and Siouxsie and Budgie divorced years ago.

What's good by The Creatures?

reply

I didn't really like their music.

reply

I just googled and Siouxsie and Budgie divorced years ago.

That explains why she did a solo album a few years ago. Anyway, I didn't really like The Creatures. Siouxsie's solo was a little more interesting, but not much. Kind Bjorkish.

reply

Yeah, it's like most bands and artists. They were sublime in their prime but they'll never recapture that.

It's like how people rave about Bowie's last album before his death. I hated it and prefer to remember him from his early career.

reply

I just read she's on tour again, but her concert in LA was cancelled due to weather.

reply

The first time I saw Siouxsie, we had to sit through the dreadful opening act. It was Lydia Lunch. I'm not sure if you've ever heard of her. She had a following but she was dreadful. Lol.

Then 30 minutes into Siouxsie's performance some asshole jumped on stage and created a disturbance. Security grabbed him. But Siouxsie got mad and she abruptly ended the concert.

Yeah, I was very pissed. This was at a place called The Palladium in Hollywood.

reply

Sorry to hear that. I went to see Liz Phair a few years ago. Some dude charged up to the stage as soon as she started playing, but people in the crowd stopped him from getting all the way. It was a good concert, but she didn't play long. I'm debating about whether I want to go see her this year. She's my second favorite artist. Don't know if I mentioned that.

reply

It's funny because Siouxsie was an original London punk. The shows would get riotous. But when she played Hollywood in the 80's she was already established and she didn't tolerate any nonsense. Diva complex I think.

Ah, and I love Liz Phair.

reply

Liz is touring again. I saw her back in 2018 when she toured for anniversary of Girly sound tracks. It was fun, but she's not big on encores, or autographs. Show ended at 9:30. It was still lots of fun, but I don't know if I'll go again. And there are other factors. But it was great to see her sing her old, best work.

Favorite Solo artists of all time Madonna and Michael Jackson.

'Flowers' is not a new song; it's 'I Will Survive' by Gloria Gaynor recycled for the 100th times.

reply

Lol šŸ˜‚ could be but still an amazing recycling then. One of the best recycling soft that song.
