Name a movie where a character got a fate they didn't deserve.

Kevin Spacey in "Se7en".

Prim in Mockingjay

Tom Robinson in To Kill a Mockingbird (and Jem, too)

Romeo and Juliette

reply

They did it to themselves at least.

reply

That’s true but they were teenagers under enormous social pressure and you know how teenagers can be.

Eddie Carr in The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

I always find myself screaming at the TV set when he gets killed. Plus, it was the fault of the film's other 'good guys' (save for Ian Malcolm, who tried to warn Sarah Harding and Nick Van Owen, that they were being idiots).

In fact, unfair fates is a recurring theme throughout the Jurassic Park films. I also feel bad for Zara in Jurassic World, especially since her fate is so prolonged, Ray Arnold (AKA Samuel L. Jackson) in the first Jurassic Park film, and the poor dude who runs to "Blockbuster Video" to get away from the T-Rex that has attacked San Diego.

The little girl at the beginning of The Lost World also has an undeserved nasty encounter, although we are told that she survived (probably with permanent physical scars and psychological trauma, that not even her rich parents are ever going to account for).

reply

Eddie was such a nice guy. He risked his life and never backed down even when two T-Rexs were there.

reply

He got the worst fate (being ripped in two, and devoured, by a pair of T-Rexes) for being a hero.

reply

Gene Hackman in Unforgiven. He was building a house.

Newt and Bishop in Alien 3.

Still pisses me off!

reply

Newt, Bishop *and* Hicks.

reply

Yes. Forgot about Hicks🙂

reply

Call me prejudiced towards androids, but as much as I love Bishop, and how he pulled through for everyone at the end of Aliens, I was more upset about the deaths of Newt and Hicks, seeing how they're humans.

reply

I always believed they did Newt dirt because of a contract dispute.

reply

Alien 3 might be the first time I saw a sequel/spin-off/prequel/follow-up media that I wanted to pretend wasn't canon.

reply

That was my pick. Killed off in such an offhand way.

reply

Naomi Watts in Funny Games

reply

Yes that was sick at the end, so matter-of-factly, no regard, like tossing away a kleenex

reply

So unexpected and random. No happy ending! I honestly thought she was going to get out of it somehow.
It really affected me!

reply

While it made sense story-wise, I've always felt a lot of pity for how Jerry Black in The Pledge ended up.
