Anyone have a pool table?

If so, how often do you use it (be honest)?

I've know quite a few people who have bought pool tables and without exception, after the novelty wore off, none of them ever use them.

I think they're a colossal waste of money.

I don’t, but I grew up playing on one at my grandparents house. In my early 20s I ended up buying a Jensen cue and I played in lots of local bar room tournaments. I would love to have a table at my house, though.

The only people with pool tables that I know that still use them are the same people that go to bars and use other pool tables more often. Most of them collect dust eventually.

Some friends and I invented some different rules for pool once when bored at a mt cabin. Called it Mutant Ball. The Mutants player shot from the solids in numerical order. Other player shot from either of two cue balls in play. Striped ball were civilians. Each solid ball had a power. Super speed(take 2 shots), Strength (inflict 2 wounds on the White player's cache of 10), Force Field (we put a plastic cup on it), etc. The White player could fire a "blast" and we would place a tiny piece of paper under the chosen shooter and then return that ball to its location afterward. Alternating players would add another "civilian" stripe ball anywhere on the table. Sinking a civilian by either player would return all casualties scored that shot. Not too long a list of other rules but you get the gist. It was very fun. Especially if you are familiar with the Xmen graphic novel "God Loves, Man Kills," which we based the skin on.

It got us wanting to play again at least.

I have one in my basement. Used to play a few times a week for many years, but then as the basement got more full it got used less and less. Probably use it once every other month now since it involves moving the treadmill and elliptical. Lazy!

You need the right kind of friends to own a pool table, if not it's waste of time.

Used to, it was sweet. Played it daily. Got kinda good. My "mate" ripped up the felt one day on a psychotic binge. So I gave it to another friend cause I thought it would be hard to mend. I ended up putting new felt on it with him, it was so fucking easy. Played like a dream after. Last I heard oldmate sold it for a ball of ice, and now he's in jail. Miss the table and the friend. Don't do drugs. Most importantly though, never get rid of a sweet slate pool table.
