Who is an actor, where no matter how bad the movie is, they are still great in it?

I could name several, but I have liked Willem Dafoe in every movie I've seen him in, regardless of if I didnt like the overall movie.

I wanna add Elias Koteas. He's been good in everything I've seen him in and yet not enough recognition as others.

Daniel von Bargen is another actor no one mentioned yet who is great in everything I've seen him in!
I remember him the most from Malcolm in the Middle, but was always pleased with his performances

I was sad when I heard the news he had passed away. He fits on this list easily.

on True Lies, when Arnold is scaring Paxton and calling him "Carlos the Jackal" and claiming he is a terrorist while holding him in front of that large dam. I always thought they made up a terrorist to just BS the car dealer cheater and make him piss himself. But I laughed when I found out that apparently Bill Paxton actually did look like a wanted terrorist during the filming and they used that criminals name because of it xD

I loved him in Aliens

I didn’t see where anyone mentioned Denzel Washington which would be unfathomable

reply

They did. Take a look through again! I even mentioned a couple of his movies I liked, that maybe arent well known : )

Whats your favorite of his?

reply

I knew I had to be mis-reading. Sorry I missed the other posts. Denzel W is one of my all time favorites. My favorite is Devil in a Blue Dress. Second favorite is the first Equalizer.

Hey, thanks for coming up with this great thread. Very entertaining

reply

Its no problem, and I've enjoyed seeing the various choices and looking up actor images of names I didnt recognize. The first Equalizer was good enough for me to go out and purchase it! I liked the villain in the movie too, played by Marton Csokas. It is a great choice of movie!

Alan Rickman, he is the only reason Robin Hood Prince of Thieves is watchable. He can steal any film regardless of his role in it.

reply

He was great in Galaxy Quest! Good choice

reply

Eric Roberts.

Ah a wonderful mention! He's got an interesting face as well, I recognized his face immediately after searching his name. He's been in many things its hard for me to pinpoint where I liked him the most. I remember him as a villain. Whats your favorite movie he is in?

reply

Best of the best of course.

DUDE HAS OVER 600 CREDITS ON HIS RESUME...HE NEVER STOPS WORKING...BUT HIS ONE-TWO PUNCH IN 1985 WITH THE COCA-COLA KID AND RUNAWAY TRAIN WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE WORK BY THE MAN.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088931/ lol this is one strange movie synopsis xD

COKE HAS BEEN MY DRINK SINCE I WAS A KID...MY FATHER TOLD ME I HAD TO SEE THIS MOVIE ABOUT A GUY SELLING COCA COLA TO AUSTRALIANS...SO I DID...DELIGHTFUL LITTLE FLICK.

And if it wasn't for him, there would be no Julia Roberts or Emma Roberts in Hollywood.

reply

YES!!!!!!!! Have you seen his Dr. Stalker movie franchise he does for the Lifetime channel?? I hate Lifetime movies with the passion. But, his franchise is so over-the-top and hilarious and he puts his absolute all into it. He's made five of them so far and I'm hoping for more!!!!

reply

I LOVE ELIAS KOTEAS...EVER SINCE I WAS A KID AND HE PLAYED CASEY JONES...I HAVE FOLLOWED HIM THROUGH MANY DIFFERENT MOVIES OVER THE YEARS...HE IS ALWAYS GOOD.

reply

Thats where I first saw him too : ) guy is great! I liked him in the first Prophecy movie and also the Priest with cancer in "The Haunting in Connecticut". He's got this sense of style along with warm affection. Feels like seeing an old friend on the screen.

Other than Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, whats your favorite movie he is in?

reply

HIS BROTHER IN LAW CHARACTER FROM LOOK WHOS TALKING TOO IS THE FIRST THING THAT COMES TO MIND...BUT SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL AND ALMOST AN ANGEL ARE THE TWO I HAVE WATCHED THE MOST PROBABLY.

reply

LOL I cannot believe I forgot Almost an Angel! Thats probably my favorite Paul Hogan movie : )
He played the guy in the wheelchair that befriends Paul Hogan after they fight. Was quite a sight to see him sit down in a chair and just duke it out with Elias Koteas in the wheelchair. Taught him respect, and same time taught him to have a better outlook on life, whilst also treating him like a normal person and not wheelchair bound. https://youtu.be/7rU3GnQuR-8

Steve Buscemi

reply

Oh thats an excellent choice, He's another older fellow that became an actor later in his life kinda like Samuel L Jackson. Steve Buscemi was a Firefighter in New York City before he became an actor
