First music you owned…

Was it a cassette, record, CD, 8-track or what type? And who was it?

Mine was Madonna ‘True Blue’ on cassette. 😎😂

Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, an LP - dark age technology.

The first cassette I bought was NWA: Straight outta Compton.

That’s a good one.

Mine was some Alvin and the Chipmunks vinyl album, I think I was 8 or 9 years old.

My first memories of owned music is of my mom playing the 8-Track of Saturday Night Fever in her car or my dad’s Beatles vinyl collection.

My first purchase was a compilation vinyl record called Kickin Country by Ktel that I bought at K-Mart with grass cutting money. It’s not the same one, but I do have it in my vinyl collection now.

Gotta love to be able to remember the old 8 track hehe

My fave was The live album Johnny Cash had from Folsom Prison. Was sooo young and I still loved it. 😆

Elton John "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy" LP

First album was Thriller.
First cd was Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morrissette

Mine was Madonna too, but Like A Virgin on vinyl for me.

reply

Nice! I was prob way too young for Madonna but she was it for me back then 😊

Apart from the music I taped off the radio, and listened to on my walkman later on, I remember buying a lot of single CDs. They usually had up to 4 songs on them and some had songs that weren't featured on the album. I think my first one was a Men In Black single, which may have been a gift that I got at the cinema for watching the movie.

Was too funny I had cass-singles or whatever they were called. Cassettes with two songs or so on them. Was just talking about these asking people if they knew what they were 😂

Lol yeah I remember sharing a Barbie cassette tape with my sister. Lol "working out Barbie" was the only song on it. But the ones you used to tape things off the radio could hold a fair amount of music. People still remember them and even use them - I recall watching the first episode of Supernatural and character Dean has a lot of tapes with rock songs on them - granted, only in his car though. They're very car friendly if you have an old one that plays tapes.
