So many come to mind but a young-ish standout for me is Robert Pattinson, who is an actor I always thought of as ‘That glittery heartthrob vampire boy from those Twilight books the 14 year old girls swoon over.’

Then I happened to see Pattinson in Good Time. Consider me well and truly corrected for thinking the guy was some silly teen sensation, this guy has acting chops.

Good Time was a wild, scary ride about the sort of guy a lot of us grew up knowing, the sort of maniac that just looks for a quick score and accidentally hurts everyone he comes into contact with…It’s a great movie about a toxic, desperate criminal moron 10/10.

Films of his that I have seen and which he elevated with his performances:

The Rover
The Lost City Of Z
The Lighthouse
The King
The Devil All The Time

Most recently he starred in The Batman and boy oh boy, he really nailed the role. He’s obsessed, possibly an insomniac, certainly mentally ill and he goes out looking for trouble every night! He might just be the best Batman ever and the script was really great.

I’d watch Pattinson in any action, crime or horror movie, this dude is a terrific actor.

I can't help but think of him as this generation's Johnny Depp. Both broke as pretty boy romantic lead-types, but chose instead to take more interesting and challenging roles in lower-paying indie films. Both actors earned my box office dollars and respect.

Your username reminds me of this classic commercial: https://youtu.be/7enICbS9Wdo Really can't think of that town without hearing it in that guy's voice.

He surprised me when I saw the Reese Witherspoon film Water For Elephants.
Not gonna rave about it one way or the other, but it was a serious effort and seeing it in the theater, I enjoyed it very much.
I didn't expect to see Pattinson in it.

Eliza is rather unexpected!

I liked her in Buffy, but haven't really seen her do anything great after that. I always try to watch any new movies she's in.

I liked her as Faith too, she brought a bit of rebellion to the series. She hasn't done anything since 2017 according to IMDb, I think she was ok in Tru Calling but she isn't really a leading lady or just gets cast in the wrong roles. I think she is more of a bad girl /villain type.

... a natural setting in it.

Movies like Cliffhanger, A Fine Getaway, The Edge, even The Shallows, all seem to be much more watchable for me due the natural settings in which they take place.

Although there must be a better or different way to express "natural settings."

I think the term you're looking for is a movie with great cinematography:)
