what did you do today?

We went walking in the -14 Celsius weather. I am still cold. We stopped for coffee but we had to drink it outside because of the covid shit. It was Tim Hortons coffee.

I’m building a shed / shop onto the carport I’ve been rebuilding after the hurricane. I was out there all day, with great weather, putting up metal and building a door.

I’m watching Solider Blue (1970) right now for the first time. Did you get your user name here from a character in this film?

reply

Honus?

reply

Oh, I did not check to see how it was spelled. I was only going by how it sounded in the film.

Have you seen it before?

reply

watched 4 movies.
street of shame (1956) pretty good
there will be no more light (2020) fantastic, disturbing, thought-provoking.
playlist (2021) ok
escape room tournament of champions (2021) mediocre but still fun

then i jogged 10k to my sister & brother in law's for dinner. they made a fantastic curry with chick peas and yams that i am going to try myself soon even though i guarantee it won't be half as good.
just got home.
am now going to find a trashy horror movie to watch.

reply

Have fun!

reply

Which one did you end up watching?

reply

spree (2020) - it was ok. it's another one of these satires on the hazards of social media & the danger of chasing people who'll smash the like button on your stream. it has a good amount of energy & a fairly fun, crazy performance by the lead. i liked it.

reply

I really enjoyed Spree. It was a lot of fun.

reply

very fun movie. in fact, i think i wasn't enthusiastic enough above. i should have said 'it was ok! i liked it!'

reply

allaby, did you see that the criterion channel has added the ability to change the speed on movie streaming?

i'm kinda shocked they did that. i bet that will offend a lot of the film purists that use the site.

i like it myself, especially if i'm watching a doc, where i'm not so concerned about getting into the mood of a film.

reply

I didn’t notice that. That’s an interesting option. I don’t know if I will ever use that feature though.

Made an early Target run at 7:30 this morning to beat the weekend crowds. Read for a while. Okay, quite a while. Watched a few episodes of RPU: Road Policing Unit on BritBox, a couple of episodes of The Waltons on IMDb and put a second coat of paint on a small dresser that I'm refreshing.

How do you take your Tim coffee? Mine is extra large, 2 cream 1 sugar

reply

medium, one cream, one sugar.

Yoga, laundry, dog walkies, and an afternoon with a borrowed PS4. There are a lot of games in this last generation that I have yet to experience.

Today I went to the shopping malls for the first time in two years. I bought winter boots half price winter gloves a case for my cell phone I had reparations done on my chain and almost bought a movie but didn’t. It was Judas and the black Messiah. I also brought back some Chinese honey fried chicken and Lo Mein noodles. It was most excellent. We ate it while watching a movie. It was The rise of Skywalker. After that there was a Nerf war and other games with the kids.

reply

At the risk of getting political, I am against reparations for chains.

reply

Oh yeah, why??

reply

Yesterday we went to a city not far from our town, we went shopping and then to a restaurant. In the evening we watched "Back to the future II" It was a nice day.

reply

Mostly just drowned in misery. I plan to continue doing so for the foreseeable future too. My dog is dying.

reply

I have a cat who has kidney disease and I know he is entering the last phase of his illness He is 12 1/2 and we found him in a parking lot when he was just a kitten. I love him to pieces.

I share your pain - it is heartbreaking to lose a pet.

reply

It is. I'm sorry about your cat. My dog is almost 11 years old, his birthday is in exactly two months. I don't think he's going to make it that far.

reply

All we can do is love them and give them the best care possible. It' important to do what is best for them and let them go when it's time.
