French

Plus a smattering of a few others.

What was the most difficult one of the last four?

reply

Interesting question. I learned French at school and honed it by spending time there.

I lived in Thailand for a while and when I travelled to other countries in SE Asia, I found understanding their languages easy (my wife is Indonesian, so I had an advantage [or disadvantage ]) there, lol.

I think that it comes down to how the synapses gets in your brain get wired; the more exposure you get, the easier it becomes.

I question you.

In what way 😘

reply

That's awesome. Necessity as in suddenly being in a place that doesn't speak English?

reply

Yes, imagine being somewhere where nobody speaks your mother tongue - you learn very quickly.

reply

Yeah, I've been in handfuls of non-English speaking countries, and I never want to talk to a local in any other language outside of their language out of respect.

reply

It’s not hard to learn at least a few handy phrases.

reply

Hmm you may be a language savant.

reply

When I visit a country, I always learn a few phrases out of politeness. You’ll be amazed how much people appreciate that fact that you’re prepared to at least have a go a little bit.

reply

Its a sign of genius.... I have a friend who's kid speaks 5 languages, and has been recruited by the CIA...On a side not, he's gay,, take that right wing.

reply

Was he recruited in college?

I've always been afraid of the CIA.

age, the younger you are exposed the better. i was in malta years ago and the kids were speaking english, french, italian and maltese. it was amazing to a unilingual guy like me.

reply

I only speak two languages, English and bad English.😁

reply

Its a skill. I took 3 years of french. I can read french, and spanish, they are really close.

reply

Gibberish. Although I suppose that would be speaking less than language wouldn't it.
