Just finished a 5 Pirates of the Caribbean Movie Marathon with my 7 year old daughter.

I still maintain that Captain Jack Sparrow‘s entrance, where he steps off the sinking ship onto the jetty in the first film, is one of the best ever.

Next up - Robots in disguise (What? She’s seven).

I hope Little Miss King had a swashbuckling good time

I only recall the first one but it was enjoyable

reply

As you know, we went to Disneyland Paris recently and naturally went on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. So, it was all interlinked, which made it more enjoyable for her.

reply

There's 5? I stopped at 3 thinking I only missed out on one film.

My ratings: -
1. Very good
2. Good
3. Ok
4. Not good
5. Good

reply

Part 5 better than part 3. That's rare.

reply

I think they realised that it was going downhill rapidly and maybe they put a bit of effort in to remedy this?

reply

I still really love the first one. Haven't seen the most recent. Was it decent?

reply

It was quite good. My ratings: -
1. Very good
2. Good
3. Ok
4. Not good
5. Good

reply

Maybe I will get around to it sooner rather than later. :)

WHICH ONE HAS PENELOPE CRUZ...I REALLY DISLIKED THAT ONE.

reply

No.4, which I liked the least.

reply

I love Pirates of the Caribbean. The first one is just about perfect. 2 and 3 have some flaws but are generally pretty great. 4 was just ok, fairly good in some ways. I didn't like 5 at all, it doesn't even feel like the same series to me.

reply

I quite liked 5.

reply

To each their own. Just in my opinion, the spirit of the movie felt very different from all the others, like its energy was spent. Jack Sparrow didn't feel like Jack Sparrow anymore, I almost got the impression Depp didn't even want to be there. Some of the other actors gave the same impression. And there were some serious inconsistencies with the rest of the series, which made it feel like the writers didn't even care about the movie. I think it had the potential to be a good movie but it just fell short. Again, in my opinion.

reply

I am in the minority disliking Part 3 and favoring the 4th one. I never saw the 5th one.

reply

5th is better than 4th.

reply

The first three hold together well as a continuing adventure, but I guess consistency points have to be given for getting through the next couple.

Spoiler alert for Robots in disguise: I bet the favorite of the bunch will be either the 1986 animated film or Bumblebee.

reply

I will let you all know.

reply

Yeah it was pretty cool wasn't it. Glad she enjoyed it..

reply

Thanks - we've watched hundreds of films together.

That’s awesome! I’ve been watching movies with my 7-year-old too. Haven’t showed her the Pirates movies yet, but those are good ones!

So far she loves Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Free Willy, Homeward Bound, Jumanji, ET, and the Miyazaki films.
