Have you been back to the movies since Covid?

I finally went back on Monday to see The Conjuring 3 and while it was nice just being back, it definitely felt different.

I had read that theaters were doing unique things to bring patrons back, but the ticket was still the same cost as before and a small drink was still $6.00

Also while I knew ahead of time that this movie was available on HBO Max, I think for the theaters to survive moving forward, some movies will need to be released in theaters only.

I just wanted to go back and see if it was still as fun as before, but I couldn't help but think at least a few times that for the same price as a ticket and drink, I could have subscribed to HBO Max for a month.

I really want movie theaters to have a future, but I also know I am nostalgic for them. I still find some value in seeing certain movies in a theater setting, but with streaming instantly available for nearly everything, the theaters will have to try something different.

The movie theater near me opened back up briefly last year and I went and saw Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Wars, Spongebob and Tenet. It closed again in November and has not re-opened yet.

reply

Yes, I went two weeks ago and saw the new Conjuring movie. It was great, (the theater experience, not the movie.)

reply

I'm going tomorrow. My friend wants to see cruella so what we might see most likely.

reply

Right! It was any other possession movie. Been there dome that.

reply

Not on the sense that you mean.

I saw a double feature of Friday the 13th / Night of the Living Dead at the drive in and I also saw a private screening of Aguirre The Wrath of God in a theater.

I’ve yet to go to a theater with the general public since covid.

Cinemas here reopened around July of last year but I didn’t venture back until around November. Obviously social distancing is still in place so they are never full capacity, no eating and masks must be kept on.

I USED TO GO WEEKLY...THEN MY DAUGHTER WAS BORN AND I STOPPED ENTIRELY...MORE RECENTLY MY DAUGHTER AND I MADE IT A TRADITION TO SEE EACH MCU FILM IN THEATER...SO BLACK WIDOW WILL BE OUR FIRST ONE BACK.

reply

No. They just opened towards the end of April in my area. There really hasn't been anything that great that made want to go to the theatre.

I don't think that's gonna change anytime soon either. Hopefully, they're still open when Dune comes out. That's the one I'm looking forward to the most. Definitely gonna see that on the big screen.

i am in no rush.

The movie theaters here are open again, but I haven't come across a movie I'd like to watch.

reply

Anything to take the focus of those videos, eh?

reply

WHY TAKE ANY FOCUS OFF MY GAY HOME VIDEOS?...THEY ARE ALL EXCELLENT...DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT THAT YOU ARE SIMPLE MINDED.

reply

WELL...THEY SHOULD...THEY ALL HAVE VERY HIGH PRODUCTION VALUE.
