what genre has the most bad movies?

horror

Western

reply

have you seen high noon?

reply

Yes, but I didn't enjoy it much better than other westerns. The stories all seem so similar.

reply

McCabe & Mrs. Miller is definitely different.

"Shane" is great, "The Outlaw Josey Wales", "The Ox-Bow Incident" is a psychological western with Peter Fonda.

"The Professionals" is a philosophical western without being pedantic. Great cast.

reply

I've found that if it's about real life people, I'm much more intrigued.

I remember when Heaven's Gate was on tv, I looked up the real story and just kept on reading, I didn't even watch the movie anymore. The real story was way more interesting than the movie, although that probably doesn't say much.

reply

THAT MEANS YOU DON'T CARE FOR THE GENRE...NOT THAT THE GENRE SPORTS MORE BAD FILMS THAN OTHER GENRES.

reply

I was talking about High Noon specifically.

The majority seems to be crappily made movies like John Wayne or Spaghetti westerns. Besides, I don't consider a repetitive story a good quality.

reply

The Searchers is not crappily made and is based on true events.

reply

I haven't seen that one. It seems only loosely inspired by true events. The story of a grumpy middle aged guy who is out to seek revenge and saves a young lady at the same time is kind of a typical western story, though.

reply

AGAIN...YOU DISLIKE THE GENRE AND ITS STARS....OBVIOUSLY...THAT STILL DOESN'T EQUAL WESTERN BEING THE BIGGEST OFFENDER OF BAD FILMS.

P.S. JOHN WAYNE IS A LEGEND.

reply

The same goes for anybody else in this thread.👍

reply

WESTERNS HAVE DIPPED IN PRODUCTION NUMBERS IN RECENT DECADES...WHILE OTHER GENRES HAVENT...THATS ENOUGH RIGHT THERE TO EXCLUDE WESTERN...THE RECENT GLUT OF BAD FILMS IN THE LAST 20 TO 30 YEARS HAS BEEN VERY LIMITED IN ITS OLD WEST OPTIONS...I WOULD ARGUE HORROR FILMS ARE AS OLD AS FILMS THEMSELVES,HAVE NEVER HAD A DECADE WHERE THEY WERE COMPLETELY OUT OF FASHION AND SINCE DIRECT TO VHS AND ESPECIALLY DIRECT TO STREAMING...HORROR HAS RELEASED THE MOST FILMS PERIOD...AND THERE ARE VERY FEW ACTUALLY GOOD FILMS PER MILLION.

HORROR IS MY FAVORITE GENRE BY THE WAY.

reply

Perhaps if you made more homevideos of gay cowboys eating pudding, I might change my mind.🤔

reply

AS YOU WISH.

reply

They're definitely repetitive.

reply

Annie Get Your Gun was okay, though.😉

reply

I'd say Horror but I love so many trashy horror flicks. I dislike musicals though

reply

horror

reply

Musicals. 90% are complete crap.

reply

Are they crap because you don't like the genre?

reply

Anything that breaks the 4th wall should be questioned.

reply

Fleabag was great and that broke the 4th wall constantly.

I love musicals, but, most modern ones are disappointing.

reply

I don't agree with him, but there are far more duds in the musical genre than people are willing to admit--or accept.

I know this, because I started revisiting a lot of so-called classic musicals recently, and I was shocked at how many of them were either mediocre, very poor versions of the original source (as in, cut out the best numbers or were badly miscast), too racially or sexually insensitive, or just plain creepy/weird. Very few of them hold up outside of stuff like Cabaret, West Side Story and Rodgers and Hammerstein.

reply

I like a lot of classic musicals, it's the modern ones that I find blah. But perhaps that's because I watch the better old ones.

Horror

Horror

horror i suppose.
but horror movies are like pizza. even when they're bad they're great.

reply

Exploitation.

reply

Sometimes bad is good. 😄

reply

Not that I disagree but I don't think they were trying to make good films. In Australia in the 70's and early 80's the Govt tried kickstarting the Aussie film industry by giving out grants. A lot of people rorted it by making crappy Ozploitation films and pocketing what they didn't spend lol.
