They're still around, I think. I recently reported a post and it was promptly deleted. The mods here seem to be very reluctant to ban people, either permanently or temporarily. At least that's my impression.
shareMods usually don't have the power to ban anyone. A mod is like your supervisor at work if they want you fired they have to go to the big boss.
Banning people doesn't work either, they just change their IP address sign up under a different name etc. That said, I think this site could do with some tighter quality control.
Then go to Reddit. Anarchy is what makes this website at least somewhat exciting
shareNot true. We can ban anyone but usually as a last resort after several warnings.
Immediate bans are reserved for spammers etc.
You are correct that some change IP's and rejoin and we cannot do much about that but mostly we take a hands-off approach to enable free speech as much as possible.
BTW, that post I mentioned just above -- the one I reported -- turned out to be a false alarm. It was a quote from an obscure movie, near verbatim. Still a stupid thing for the MC user to have done IMO.
