Frying Vegan Burger on Grill w/Meat Lawsuit

Finally, somebody noticed the inconsistency. It has bothered me for years when restaurants fry a vegan/vegetarian item on the same grill as meat. It's cross contamination.

Customer Phillip Williams, who is vegan, filed a lawsuit against Burger King for frying their Impossible Burger on the same grill as meat. He checked all ingredients to make sure it was vegan, but he wasn't aware that it would be covered in meat juice from the frying.

BK actually made a point of saying that it was cooked on the same grill as the meat burgers when it came out. I remember reading it.

They've been saying from day 1 that if you can request that it be cooked on a separate apparatus. From day 1. And I very rarely eat fast-food but yet I still knew about that. This guy is wasting his time.

reply

He is wasting his time. Why would a vegan patronize a restaurant where meat is the main ingredient in just about everything they serve? Besides, Burger King uses a revolving flame grill to cook their burgers so any meat juices would be burned off before any got on the veggie patties. This guy is just looking for a payday at Burger King's expense. He will fail.

reply

Yup. Exactly. Plus, they never claimed it was vegan. Ever. Only that it's a meatless patty. And it comes standard with mayo. Definitely not vegan.

reply

I'd be equally offended to learn they are contaminating my meaty burgers by using the same grill used to cook these plant-based laboratory-made abominations.

Thankfully I don't eat at Burger King. They are trash, even compared to other fast food joints. Their french fries are an embarrassment.

reply

I like their burger tho'... better than KFC.

reply

Same thing happens at a lot of coffee shops. If you ask them to make your latte with Soy or Almond Milk instead of dairy milk, yeah, they use that kind of milk, but they don't rinse out the cup they use to add it, so you end up getting some real milk as well. I'm very lactose intolerant -- I will be sick for two days if I have any dairy -- so I've noticed this more than once, unfortunately.

reply

Sue them!
