Do you think it’s unusual how many people believe in god?

I am open to other people’s belief’s but I simply can not wrap my head around that

reply

Not unusual at all. I'm, at best, agnostic but have no issue with those who believe.

From what I gather people believe in God as a way to keep positive and have faith/hope/etc. (among other reasons) I have nothing against it -- I too believe in keeping positive and having faith/hope/etc. for myself and others.

I mean the specific believing in God part is probably more complex than what I'm letting on here, but the general idea and emotional investment makes perfect sense. I think many people want hope/to be happy, but fall short and become jaded or such for a multitude of reasons. I don't consider myself as someone who particularly believes in God, but nothing seems unusual about the specific reasons people would strongly support/believe in a God aligning with positivity and such.

Unusual as in numbers? Not really since -- as I said -- I think most people want to have positivity and hope, even if they don't. Believing in God I don't think makes anyone "stupid" or "crazy" either and I don't judge people for it -- but the intricacies that surround it I don't always necessarily agree with, even if the gist of it is generally positive and from a good place.

reply

No, I don't think it is unusual.

I seperate the belief in the spiritual and a belief in organized religion.

Might be a fine line but to me the difference is believing what you feel is right vs what someone centuries ago thought was right and figured they could manipulate the masses.

reply

I'm exactly opposite. I can't wrap my head around people who don't believe in God and I was brought up in a family devoid of anything spiritual.

reply

I am with you there. I used to be alarmed at how people I wold speak to would tend to be so alright with accepting the negative behaviour then their justification would leave me befuddled. The thought systems and belief patterns made me scream then we definitely need the Lord to sort all that coz we not doing a good job without Him.

reply

I believe in Jesus Christ as Messiah but I'm an awful Christian

My language is horrible and my thoughts are indecent and I was WAY too casual with violence against men in the past

I'm trying to make up for my lousy behavior by helping other people out...Everyday I try to do something nice for somebody I don't know

I help quite a few strangers out every week...it makes me happy:)

reply

We're all "awful Christians" which is why we need Christ. He came to heal the sick. :)

reply

He better get here soon...I've got the sniffles something awful!

Tomorrow I will help another stranger...it's my new jam

From one heretic to another....you nailed it Shoggie, sweetie 😘. After my earlier OP, I can imagine Him shaking His head while wagging His finger at me. “Now, now thou must curb thy mouth and pen!”

I recently wrote the following to another poster:

“I have faith there is God and His Son, the Christ who went to the cross taking the world’s sins, mine included upon His shoulders. “

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1

reply

I suppose we both deserve a good finger wagging!
Still, tomorrow is another day and I feel like helping out the world
Tomorrow will be a good day love😘

At the bottom of it all there is a mystery. Why is there something rather than nothing ? Nobody knows the answer to that question so there is room for God. I am an agnostic because I don't know either way.

reply

Not knowing either way is a good way to put it all on paper Quasimodo

Having hope and commanding our lives is for sure a big something!

You and I and all of us are Masters and Commanders of our ships...I doubt the Universe gave us free will and a daring will to try for paradise if there was nothing out there for us

Anyway, I gotta take this call....I ordered two tickets to Paradise...

reply

People that believe in god or are spiritual? No. People that believe wholeheartedly in what most religions teach? Yes.
