I'm hoping the superhero films dies down a bit soon

There are too many superhero films and it's becoming mind and time consuming to view them all. A few are masterpieces like joker and BVS but a lot like the marvel films are junk. I hope audiences one day get sick of these so that way more unique films come out

I'd give it a generation or two. The only way it keeps going is for new, younger people not to realize or care that it's mostly recycled, as are all things.

Maybe another Space Age will kick off a resergent sci-fi Western trend. Think "Wagon Train" to the stars a la Star Trek.

Given how often they are rebooted as well stops me from taking them seriously and caring. How many batman films now?

I think it will take a generation who want to be as different as possible to the previous one.

That might kill off super hero films.

It's hard to believe that it wasn't until the late 90s that the superhero found its feet.

Who knows, maybe future generations of people will look back and consider many of these movies to be very campy compared to their cyberpunk lives.

Around the time "Franchises" started. The superhero genre allows them to keep manufacturing and recycling these stories. It's adaptable from a business sense but I think they have pushed it so far that it can't last much longer.

I enjoy them all but most folks on MC are pretty down on the superhero pictures:/
BVS was NO 'masterpiece' but it was pretty good
You aren't required to watch them all you know, Twentyfourk...you can pick and choose

Logan was the best of them all imo...just a friendly heads up

reply

They are required viewing if you ever want to have a chance of maintaining friendships and relationships

reply

I see your shtick - being a contrarian for the sake of it.

Meeting friend's movie watching expectations and vice versa, sure.

Required viewing, nah-ah; no way, Jose.

ROFL😂
This cracked me up

'If I don't see Spiderman Homecoming my wife will leave me and the dog will be very disappointed!'

Try being in an actual relationship before you talk out of your ass.

If your man or lady wants you to see a movie with him/her, you are basically forced to see it unless you want out of the relationship.

reply

HA!
You are a fun one:)
Sorry your other half drags you to movies you don't want to see

*I posted all of that out of my ass sport

reply

It won't as long as MCU fans keep showing up in record numbers for mediocre movies.

reply

Amen! Same thing for movies with lots of explosions, car chases and CGI!

😎

I feel like there are way too many as well, and most are mediocre, but after each Marvel film makes a billion dollars and EG just made almost 3 billion, that is not going to happen any time soon. The studios will continue to make these, rightfully so, as the cash flow is there.

BVS was a masterpiece?

OP is zack snyder?

LOL.

It's just a trend in movie-making culture. If you take a look at past movie history, the popularity of various genres changes periodically. This present time is no different. Eventually some other genre is gonna take over once the superhero craze dies down, but how long it lasts varies widely from one trend to the next. That isn't to say that Hollywood will stop making superhero movies when the craze dies down, it's just the quantity of movies made and how many people go to watch will change.
