The Doors - The End

Led Zeppelin - Achilles Last Stand
Pink Floyd - Dogs
The Doors - When The Music's Over
Supertramp - Fools Overture

The End is one of those all time crazy, haunting songs
I've heard it a hundred times and enjoy it but I have NO idea what it's about
Supposedly Morrison (who wrote it) didn't either!

It certainly fit perfectly into the Apocalypse Now soundtrack

reply

One of my favorite songs of all-time.. Jim wrote it as a goodbye song to a girl. The Doors would jam and jam, and Jim would improvise, and he threw the Oedipal section for who knows why.

reply

Yeah, the mother stuff throws me for a loop every time lol!

reply

I love Fools Overture

is it your favorite Supertramp song?

reply

Ah, I was just going to mention The End.

1968, live at the Hollywood Bowl. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FMGYycBAMU

I haven't watched it yet (will do next), but if you haven't seen it, I see there's an interview with Morrison's father and sister and thought of you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kz63-q8otYM

Its a wonderful interview. Thanks :)

Civil War , Guns and Roses

I love this song but that closing line, 'What's so civil about war anyway..?' always makes me giggle

reply

I heard it the other day. "What we have hear is a failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach". I love that beginning.

Cool Hand Luke!
I dug the opening too

reply

Strother Martin at the opening

Legendary monologue ...especially perfect because he defends his brutal methods with zero concern for anyone's safety and rights

What a movie!
