My mom bought in heavily to Catholicism and made sure I was indoctrinated, too. Wasn't until I was about 16 that I realized what a bunch of BS it was (and ALL religions). But perhaps I should be grateful, though--if I'd been raised in a religion that wasn't as silly and strict as Catholic, maybe I never would have come to this realization so early in life.

reply

I left Catholicism when I was 17 or 18. For 10 years I went to Catholic school and then I realized religion was BS. I'm now an atheist.

reply

Welcome to the club! I wouldn't call myself a total atheist, but probably about 99% worth. I'm open to the possibility there may be some kind of divine power, I just seriously doubt it (and certainly don't believe any of the myths and fairy-tales every religion throughout history has come up with to explain a power like this). I don't believe this "faith" crap that priests and other holy men use in order to keep us in line, either. If mankind wants to be good and follow a moral path, we need to take responsibility for our own actions and not pray or follow some non-existent diety.

My father wanted all his kids to get university degrees - 3/4 did. My one brother who didn't and is a tradesmen is probably doing better than the other three. He has cashed in on the building boom here. The trades are a good occupation. You were wrong dad.

A young unattractive girl will turn into a butterfly.
My Mom was so sweet. She'd say this about some of my Sister's friends.
I hope she was right.
