What was the last great era of popular music in your opinion?

IMO I consider the mid 1990's to be the last truly great era of popular music, right around the time when "Macarena" became a hit that was when music really started to go downhill.

I did like the Top 40 music from the 1980's/early 1990's quite a bit.

80s hair metal
and early 90s grunge...new music sounds like nonsense

I thought pop music had a bit of a revival during late 2005 to early 2008 with the British Invasion.

yeah i did.
That was about the time music festivals became mainstream, so people who wanted to go to them had to stop listening to Macarena and learn to listen to real bands playing their instruments on a stage.

Kasabian , zutons , the killers etc
