Character or actor name

Have you ever come across a character or actor who has your name? I'm not asking in order to suss out your real name, just so you know.

I haven't, but there is a character in "The Winds of War" who has my dad's name - both first and last name. The reason I find it a bit weird is that my dad was in the service during WWII when this mini-series takes place.

My own name isn't all that common, but there is a well-known actress with the same first name as mine.

My given name is quite annoying and ugly...It's too English sounding, I don't care for it at all (my mother's idea, lovely woman, she claims to love me despite the awful given name lol)
It does not roll off the tongue!

My surname is great, very Irish and this is what my people at work call me by...I insist upon it quite frankly

reply

I have always hated my first name. When I was growing up a lot of people assumed I was named after this famous actress, which was not true. I tried to get folks to call me by a nickname or my middle name, but it never stuck. 🙁

reply

You've made me curious as to what your name is, now.

reply

Oliver McGillicuddy
Damn glad to meet you😬

reply

Hamish Hodgson.

reply

Oh, a nice Jewish boy!

reply

Certainly not Jewish. Of Dutch ancestry, and Hamish is a Scottish name, I think.

reply

Just a silly joke
Many variations of it...'Oooh, a nice Irish boy!'

All in good fun HodWatt👍

reply

There are several actors with my first name.

reply

Do you characterize your name as rather common? I don't think mine is, although it's not unheard of.

reply

I think it is fairly common.

reply

I suspect my question isn't for those with names like Tom, Dick, or Harry. Sorry to those folks.

reply

I have never seen my middle name that''s for sure.

reply

I seem to remember you talking about this before - a family name, right?

A few generations ago, it was common to give the firstborn - whether male or female - the mother's maiden name as a middle name. It made for some rather strange middle names.

reply

an old Scottish name that has died out.

reply

Wait long enough and it'll come back. And then you'll be cool!

reply

First name, sure. Last name, not one.

reply

Although Andy King sounds cool, it’s quite common in the UK. I don’t know of any actors or characters, but the have been at least 3 that have played in the English football league.

reply

There's a well known tv actor who passed away not long ago that shares my brothers first and last name.My own first name is very common. There are many actors who have it as a first name and a last.

reply

My first name is not very common. I don't mind it but the one annoying thing is that people get it wrong a lot. There is only one actress I know of with this name.

reply

I only know one actress who has the same first name as I do.
