Was 2007 the worst year for movies?

Here is a list of movies I saw in 2007. This is not every movie released. Only ones I have seen:
Happily Never After (sucked!)
Bridge to Terabithia (not too bad)
Last Mimzy (sucked)
Meet the Robinsons (Really good)
Spider-Man 3 (SUCKED)
Shrek 3 (SUCKED)
Pirates 3 (SUCKED)
Surf's Up (Meh)
Fantastic 4 2(Meh)
Nancy Drew (Meh)
Evan Almighty (meh)
Transformers (I personally enjoy it, but most do not)
Harry Potter 5 (Not my favorite HP, but parts of it were enjoyable)
Hairspray (meh)
Simpsons Movie (Pretty good)
Bourne Ultimatum (Meh)
Stardust (Pretty good)
Bee Movie (meh)
Enchanted (Pretty good)
Alvin and the Chipmunks (meh)
National Treasure 2 (pretty good)
Sweeney Todd (Really good)
Water Horse (meh)

So yeah, in my opinion, more stinkers or mehs that year than good/great ones.

I would not evaluate the whole year based on movies you saw as a kid.

What about Juno? PG-13.

Nice list, hownos. Looking back, I'm surprised Into the Wild got an R rating. Eastern Promises was memorable as well.

reply

I've seen one of the movies on this list.

Sounds like I'm not missing much.

I don't know. There have been so many crappy years for Hollyweird movies it's hard to choose.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End was awesome and I'm prepared to defend its honor with fisticuffs.

Seriously though, it had its flaws (namely a meandering plot that couldn't seem to make up its mind), but I loved it and I still do.

Looking through my IMDb ratings from 2007, I think most of the movies from that year were ok at best, but there were some good ones. Like:

The aforementioned Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (**puts fists up threateningly**)
No Country for Old Men
The Bucket List
Mongol (Mongolian movie about Genghis Khan)
Paranormal Activity (well I liked it anyway)
Michael Clayton
[Rec]
El Orfanato (The Orphanage)
Sicko (in my opinion, Michael Moore's best documentary)
Kaidan (decent Japanese horror movie)
There Will Be Blood

But yeah, probably not one of the better years for movies. I wouldn't call it the worst, though. I've barely even gone to the movie theater the last few years; there's just never anything remotely interesting playing.

There was some great films that year, so I don't think it is in the running for worst year ever.
