Okay, I watched the clip, and this is no doubt going to be the end of a beautiful friendship, but I still don't get it. I thought Mr Nice Eyes did a good job, and James Coco's expression in the last scene was good (wah, so sad!), but I'm just not seeing brilliance and great writing, and certainly nothing up to the quality of Mad Men's.
I know, I know, you hate me now.
I concede it's difficult if not impossible to sum up why a show is so great through one clip. I'd be hard pressed if someone asked me to provide a clip of MM to demonstrate it.
And I still hate medical shows ;p

This wasn't a great example of the clever writing.
Bruce Paltrow was a producer of the show.
They would page people over the loudspeaker.
One person they paged was Dr. Gwyneth Paltrow (his young daughter).
They had tie-ins to Cheers, The White Shadow, Newhart , MASH and many others.
Like I said much is dated.
It is hard to sum up a show in one little clip.
For the record Cora lost both her feet in that episode an Arnie was now on his own.
Yes, I cried.
I don't hate you per say but am reevaluating this whole thing. ;p
I still say if you would watch a few real episodes you might like it.

Whew, I'm relieved you didn't post that as evidence of the clever and brilliant writing. Yes, it really is hard to find a clip that shows how great a show is, so I'm giving you latitude here!
I had the feeling Cora was going to lose her feet. Diabetes. I gave a sad laugh when she asked if he'd picked the flowers for her himself and he said yes, from a graveyard. What do you do with that?
Well sure, you wouldn't be human if you weren't re-evaluating our friendship at this point. Who wouldn't?

William Daniels was in a movie called 1776.
It was a musical from the early 70's.
It's actually a really good movie.
There was an episode where he went to Philadelphia and sang a few
lines from that movie.
If you had never saw that movie you would have missed it.
To me that's clever!
Obscure but clever.
I don't need latitude. It stands on it's own.
It's a hospital show so there are many sad episodes and stories.
It also is the first show to show a bare butt on screen.
So yeah, how can you not love that.
My wheels are always turning.
I'll have to get back to you on this whole friendship thing.
