oh that is a drag, I loved his films. Especially Stop Making Sense. I saw the Talking Heads twice on that tour and it's still in my top 5 concerts ever, so the movie really brings it all back.

what petition ???

reply

a petition to let Roman Polanski back into the USA

reply

Excellent. Let him back in so he can be prosecuted for his heinous crimes.

It was 40 years ago, let it go.

reply

Nope sorry. Time does not dilute the severity of his crime.

Even someone convicted of first degree murder can get get parole after 25 years so I think it's time to stop the outrage about Polanski, he served 42 days in one of California's most dangerous prisons and hasn't been in the U.S. since 1978, even his accuser forgave him long ago.

reply

I'm not outraged. I just think he should be tried for his crimes, and if convicted, punished. 42 days in prison? Please.

He was wonderful. Many many masterpieces in his ouvre. I remember seeing Cousin Bobby and thinking only the most compassionate person could have made such a lovely tribute. He made so many completely dissimilar movies. The man who made Stop Making Sense made Philadelphia! He was tremendously talented. I will miss him.

reply

He directed Married to the Mob, didn't he?

Dean Stockwell from Quantum Leap was in it.

reply

Never heard of him until just now. The only movies which he directed which I have seen are Silence of the Lambs, Married to the Mob, and Melvin and Howard. The only good one was Silence of the Lambs.

Something Wild is worth a look

reply

I saw Something Wild. You are correct, sir! That was a very good and very intense film.
It featured Jeff Daniels, Ray Liotta and a very young and beautiful Melanie Griffith before
she destroyed her looks with way too much plastic surgery.

BTW, is it just me, or does Ray Liotta look really old and creepy in the 1800 Tequila ads?
This is especially true in the one where he raises his glass to the much younger woman across
the room. As he does he smiles, and his whole face cracks, and looks like it's going to fall off.
