Streaming does NOT give as good a picture as hard media. But most people who buy are buying Blu-rays and 4K Blu-rays these days. Until 8K comes out in 2018.

reply

Well,i disagree on this one,r_kane ,you can stream a blu-ray version and if you have a tv that can support blu-ray,you'll have the same quality as the original😉

reply

The tone of your post reminded me of Mr. Byrns stern personality towards Greg in Meet the Parents.

reply

My tone!? What is wrong with my tone,i wasn't rude 😉

reply

Not rude, just critical and upfront. Do you know how Mr. Byrns was in Meet the Parents? He was not really rude, just really steadfast in what he said and he seemed to say it very critically.

reply

I didn't want to my remark to be so steadfast or critical,i just explained in the most friendly way possible

reply

I could picture Mr. Byrns saying "Well, I disagree Greg, I have teets. Can you milk me Greg?"

There are two reasons why a movie on a Blu-ray disc will look better than the same movie in high definition will look when streamed, or seen on a cable or satellite service: a much higher data rate, and an uncompressed signal versus a compressed signal. The data rate for a major streaming service, like Netflix, is one gigabyte per hour. The data rate for a disc is more than twice that. More information equals more fine detail. When a signal is compressed, it must be uncompressed when it reaches its output device, your TV. Every time data are compressed, there is inevitable signal degradation and loss. Yes, you can have access to the same movie in different ways, but you will not get the same result with them all.

reply

Not true. DVDs are only 480p.

reply

Yes, but I'm talking about Blu-ray discs, not DVDs.

"Bought!? now days is the power of the internet,my friend"

Not everyone lives in a place with high-speed internet or has a computer good enough to handle it. In fact most people don't.

reply

I'm sorry,all i wanted was to make a difference,i didn't mean to offend anyone

reply

I'm not offended lol; i'm just explaining why not everyone uses streaming.

reply

The Hunt For the Wilderpeople. Great New Zealand film

reply

Loved that movie!! So funny, and so sweet. It was one of my favorites from last year.

reply

Alien Quadrilogy

reply

I never bought dvd. Pirate for life

reply

Or just watch it on websites, without having to download it.

reply

Blue Jasmine

reply

I haven't bought a dvd in years. Last bluray I bought was This Is The End. I rarely buy movies anymore. Videogames have been robbing me off my money for the last few years.

reply

Are you using a console or pc,olioz?

reply

Console. PS3 and PS4. Mostly ps3 since I can get games so cheap for it.

reply

I have an xbox one and a ps3.

reply

What are your favourite games on ps3?

My favourite game ever is the Last of Us. I'm really looking forward to the sequel. I was almost sure it would never happen, but when I saw the announcement trailer I almost cried :D

reply

Tomb raider 2013 and tomb raider trilogy remastered for ps3,now i have an xbox one so i don't use the ps anymore.I want to buy the trilogy for xbox360, because the xbox one can read games for xbox360

reply

I wish they'd done that between ps3 and ps4.

reply

It was a rumour that some old games for ps2 will be able on ps4, but they never did and microsoft beat sony on this.

There is actually one DVD and only one, that I had actually bought with my own money and it was Songs of the South. I usually put money towards things that are not mainstream or were once mainstream. I wanted to see how prejudiced it was and it was actually pretty tame. Back in its time, it was actually way worse. The actual African American storyteller was not even allowed to see the premiere, after the movie finished! Can you believe that?! I am glad Walt Disney or whoever, allowed diversity in the film. It at least gave some justice, but I had to see that movie.
