Best movie franchise of all time?

What's the best movie franchise of all time in your opinion? To qualify as a franchise, it must have at least 3 or more movies.

For me it's a toss up between Star Wars and James Bond. Both have withstood the test of time and are still going strong. Likewise, both have had their ups and downs with a few missteps, but all in all they have done extremely well at the box office and in the eyes of critics, and I expect them to have continued success well into the future.

In terms of popularity I say Harry Potter and James Bond, but I love "The Godfather, Alien, Raiders, Friday the 13th, Halloween"

Great Post, batman89!!!

The Godfather
Highlander
James Bond
Jason Bourne

Even though I wouldn't call myself a fan, I have to go with Star Wars, but only the original trilogy. Most franchises screw up with the second or third movie.

reply

Gotta go with Star Wars, not least of all because it is the only one that is really a pure movie franchise. All of the others that come to mind had their origin outside of film, i.e. comics or books.

A Chinese Ghost Story
Alien
Indiana Jones
Resident Evil (incl. the animated ones)
Star Wars
Die Hard
Naked Gun
Nightmare on Elm Street

It's Bond, James Bond.

What's the BEST movie franchise?

How do you mean? Best is a subjective and general term.

Best in box office sales? Best, as in my favorite series? Best, as in what I think was the most successful franchise to the general public REGARDLESS of my personal opinion of the franchise etc...

reply

LOTR
Nightmare on Elm
Alien
Batman
Superman
X Men
Naken Gun
Terminator

all personal preferences and not in order. Feel free to disagree

The Thin Man
Alien
Final Destination
Cabin Fever
