The reality is the suspect fired 11 times at police. Anyone with a room temperature I.Q. knows what will happen if you start shooting at police. Yet the left is outraged that he was killed.
There were undercover cops there present. I think it was a takedown of the suspect but the premise was a seatbelt violation. He already had a previous unrelated gun charge pending and now this where he fired at cops. He is no innocent person.
I suggest you view the bodycam footage that is already on the interwebs including YT. You see him not complying and even rolling the windows back up to attempt something. Already a red flag with this guy.
Tinted windows, therefore how is it possible they saw a seatbelt? They also had no idea about the driver's identity. There's also a question as to who fired first.
"The board is “uncertain” how the officers could have seen the undone seat belt, given the tinted windows of Reed's car and its position relative to the unmarked police vehicle, Kersten wrote to Chicago’s top cop in a letter USA TODAY obtained via freedom of information request.
This evidence raises serious concerns about the validity of the traffic stop that led to the officers’ encounter,” Kersten wrote.
"In releasing footage of the shooting Tuesday, the police accountability board said Reed “appears” to have fired first. But attorneys for the family said a deeper investigation needs to happen. They also say the traffic stop was unconstitutional and not the first time that Chicago cops have falsely claimed seat belt violations as the impetus for confrontational pullovers of drivers.
The evidence recovered in the aftermath of this incident indicates that all four officers discharged their firearms at (Reed) after he exited his vehicle and was unarmed,” Kersten wrote.
In particular, she calls out one officer for firing at Reed at least 50 times, including as he “lay motionless.”
Kersten wrote the board “has grave concerns about the officers’ ability to assess what is a necessary, reasonable, and proportional use of deadly force.
At a separate news conference Tuesday following the release of the videos, the mayor offered his condolences to the family and called the footage “deeply disturbing.”
“I am devastated to see yet another young Black man lose his life during an interaction with police,” Johnson said.
The officers involved in the shooting will be placed on 30-day administrative leave and the quick release of the videos, which comes ahead of a 60-day mandate, is a show of his administration’s commitment to transparency, he said.

They didn't know he was unarmed until they were able to secure the scene and search the car. Even when he was down, they were hesitant to move in because they thought he was laying top of the gun. And when he exited the car, he didn't give himself up, he was trying to run.
No that's how you escalate a routine traffic stop into criminal charges. You cant just runaway when you are being detained by police.
And no police do not have a history of lynching black people. But gaslighting black people by telling them this lie most definitely contributes to their behavior when they get pulled up.
The truth is that he ignored lawful commands and opened fire on police. There is no excuse. You are just looking for anything to latch on to and blame police, and it simply doesn't matter.
You probably have a point. Bodycam footage of George Floyd showed that Derek Chauvin did nothing wrong and that Floyd was on drugs and likely died of an overdose. But the "formal investigation" resulted in an innocent man being thrown into jail for the rest of his life in order to satisfy the racial grievance gods. Since you are one of those who bay for the blood of innocent men when one of your pets gets killed, I have no doubt you'd prefer to put your hopes into a formal investigation when easily observable evidence like a bodycam contradicts your narrative.
They are still going to twist and distort the narrative.
I have already seen several articles from different sources painting him as a 26 year-old innocent grad student killed by mean cops that had no reason to pull him over ... they are heading towards a racist narrative.
The problem is that racist narrative is the default for every police shooting that makes it into the news. Regardless of the facts. This is Chicago, with a liberal black mayor, a black chief of police appointed by the mayor, a black district attorney, and half of the officers involved were black. So if it's racially motivated, someone has to explain how that is happening there.
But I maintain that it's not relevant. Even if he was unlawfully pulled over, just comply with them, and take them to court later. You don't just start shooting.
They are likely to use the "white supremacist" excuse even if they were all black.
Remember the beating of the black man by the five black LEOs? they still used WS as an excuse.
Jesus, the only way this young black man even remotely stood a chance is if he sported a Gatlin Gun, then he might've had a shot, but what was he armed with?? A 9MM? 96 shots in 41 seconds?? That's basically 2 bullets a second hitting this guy??
