Free healthcare yes or no?

What do you guys think should it be in America or not? Why or why not?

reply

User pays for everything. No Government subsidies and no health insurance for anyone. DIY healthcare. That'll fix everyone's little red wagon.

I heard a rumour that Biden is going to lower Medicare eligibility age to 64 for people born after 2024...

But I also heard a rumour that Mitch McConnell is going to raise Medicare eligibility age to 66 for people born after 2024...

DEFINE "FREE".🤔

reply

Nothing is free, and putting our healthcare system into the hands of idiots who are also the Lowest Bidders is probably one of the worst ideas ever to come out of any politician's mouth. It's one of the first steps towards communism, and that's a road nobody wants to go down, trust me.

reply

You know from experience?

reply

It's called reading history, including recent history in other countries. Try it sometime.

reply

I have read history which is why I do not agree with your assessment. Nothing is free but our healthcare system needs some work. Other countries have more affordable healthcare.

reply

And less reliable people and resources to do it. I wouldn't trust those loser doctors overseas with broken fingernail, much less badly-needed medical treatments.

reply

Isn't taxpayer-funded "free" public education, "communism"?

reply

It has to be.

reply

Its not rocket science......

In America there are more people who will never contribute one dime towards health care or care one second about their health then there are those who do pay.

So how can the few who pay, help pay for eveyone else?

Easy. Make them pay more.

Obama care does this...it forces those who pay, to pay more.
Then that money goes directly to people who never cared one second about their health.
Its very expensive to provide someone with dialysis daily who drank 2 liters of soda for breakfast every morning.

And can we deny people who never cared one second about their health?
No.

So what's the solution for people who don't care about their health?
Have a state wide ban on large soda drinks and amounts of salt put into recipes

There are people who simply can't afford to pay for insurance. Sometimes it has nothing to do with whether they are lazy or not. Healthcare is one of the only things in this country that is privatized. Schools, fire department, police, roads etc are funded by taxes. You can't deny them but when they go in for surgery or whatever medical expense they get billed a bill they can not pay. If they can not pay it the taxpayers still eat it. So you are paying for the cost of private insurance and those who can't afford their medical bills.

You can not govern someone's health. If someone wants to eat donuts, cheesecake, drink soda and smoke they will find a way.

I say YES! I thought medicare for all made a lot of sense. Republicans have been trying to get rid of the affordable care act for ten years but I don't think they would ever try to take out medicare. I think a national single payer system would be the best approach.

reply

Just curious what led you to think this way? Elaborate if you would. Not saying I disagree I just want to know where you are coming from.

I've decided that the US healthcare system is too complicated and fragmented. I've talked to Brits/Aussies/Canadians who all liked their health care plans and I've read similar comments online. I also contend that a single payer plan would potentially cut down on the profiteering that exists in our current healthcare system.

I also don't think all citizens will be served by a for-profit system. In a for-profit system, unprofitable locations will be shut down. A not-for-profit organization will still provide service in unprofitable areas. There is a shortage of doctors in rural areas and a national single payer system would help alleviate that problem.

I also think it's even more important that everyone has healthcare in a time of fatal airborne illnesses and covid could just be the first wave. We can all die from covid just from walking down the same aisle in a supermarket or even on main street. Hospitals already are forced to provide free healthcare in emergency rooms so a national system would allow the hospitals to be reimbursed for all visits.

As long as you pay for it. Better be a trillionaire.
