It certainly was better than the first or second one.
Dune flopped because it was so deformed. People probably found the beginning boring and the end rushed. I personally like the film, especially its beginning and atmosphere, and it is Lynch's film that I return to most often of all his works, but it is far from perfect. 130 minutes was just too short a time to tell Dune's story, but in the 80's there wasn't much interest in film trilogies. They just cut the movies down to 90 minutes (like Ridley Scott's Legend) or 120 minutes.
Why bother with a remake. They can't duplicate Michael Kamen's score and Queen's songs anyhow. There's no Connery and Highlander was a career defining role for Christopher Lambert. It was a perfect combination of these elements and you can only mess it up.
I think his fights were mostly defensive. Kurgan was the one who wanted to kill them all.
Somebody once said that the only purpose of female characters in many American movies is to show that the leading male character isn't gay. I suppose this one fits that category.
Yep, this has bothered me also every time I watch this masterpiece. Fortunately it is a small detail.
It was cheap and I only buy movies that interests me. I watch new movies very rarely in theater nowadays. The last movie I watched in theater was Joker in 2019. That was just before covid.
Well, I'm going to find out soon. Just ordered blu-ray and it should arrive in a few days. I have high expectations and I'm sure I'll enjoy it more than Dunkirk and Tenet.

It's good, but not as good as Casino Royale (2006) was for Bond franchise.
Probably because of budgetary reasons. Thunderball seemed like a more expensive production. EON and Bond franchise had to grow first in order to handle more expensive projects.
It's nice that he makes those concert pieces and I like them, but he seems to follow always the same formula.
And I also like how he produced his soundtrack albums to be pleasant listening experience. I like complete soundtrack albums, but not a fan of rigid chronological order of tracks. Soundtrack album is and should be a separate piece of art.
