Star wars isn't like your child. You did not create it and you have no say in its development. You can want it to be better, but that's not your call or responsibility. That's like a sports fan yelling at a sports team through the tv. In the end, it's useless. Star wars is a product used by Disney to get you to spend the money you or your parents worked for. It has no feelings, no growth, and no real impact on your life beyond what you let it have. Why waste your time when you admit they don't care? There are more meaningful things you can do. Like actually raising a child, finding a different movie, or making your own story. Complaining because your dissatisfied is ok, but by the third letdown, why bother? You know they won't match your expectations. Just let it go. What you loved still exists. Going back and hating what's being produced is just crazy. That's like giving into the dark side. If that's your prerogative You sat next to the wrong person. Thats all. I like the way they write the kids. I also like how linda embarrasses Bob. The shows have a lesson and side characters like Rudy and Teddy. It's not your thing. Thats okay. I hope you enjoy your shows. Do you travel during holidays? Have you traveled in general (I assume you have). It's awful. Movies like Home Alone and Tommyboy also highlight the issue of traveling to get to a point of interest. Home alone focuses on holiday travel and Tommyboy focuses on travel in general. Thanksgiving is a great setup for this because the most travel happens on that day. You may not appreciate Thanksgiving, but it has a lot of significance in the States and Canada. It's the day we set aside to appreciate our family and friends before the long winter. Historically, it's very important since the settlers didn't have all the resources to survive. Winter was a death sentence. At this time, we put aside our differences to say thanks. If that doesn't suit your taste, don't worry about it. You don't live here. That's a great way to enjoy yourself. Good call. I don't know. I like the idea of the movie and give it a pass on the sets due to budget, but the acting and script aren't great. I like the villains. The language sounds silly, but the self mutilation aspect is awesome. It's weakpoint is the script. The actors are genuinely good actors. The script just didn't seem to follow their natural cadence. Oh well, It's a guilty pleasure of a movie. It was a cute little ghoulie. Im not arguing. Just discussing. As I read your comment, all I see is the franchise being your main draw. To me, this is sad. Great movies dont need multiple movies to be a good story. Most marvel movies stand on their own without the franchise. A lot of DC movies fail because they rely too heavily on making a franchise. Lord of the Rings was not a franchise, but one movie released in 3 parts. Star Wars has been failing because they're focused on making a franchise instead of separate movies that stand on their own. Its like divergent or the hinger games. When you know there isn't a conclusion until 5 movies later, why bother going to the thester. May as well wait for it to be online and binge at that rate. Perhaps that's the biggest fail. Too much focus on making a franchise instead of one entertaining movie at a time. But then sgain, marvel spoiled modern audiences. Now everyone is looking for that big film franchise fix. Too bad modern audiences couldn't learn from Friday the 13th, Saw, or paranormal activity. In the end, they were more about selling the name than making a good movie. First of all, the movie is classic. Fir all the effects, this was my least favorite. But lets be honest, not every effect can be the best. This was the one I didn't like as much as the others: The wall, glove in the tub, rotating room, quicksand stairs, bloodguiser, finger slicing, etc... the movie is packed with great effects. This is just the least of the amazing bunch. Yeah, it's lame now, but so was the early 90's. Things changed as good movies made money. Some in theater, ithers on the rental msrket. What's really awesome is the fsct that we can make movie ourselves. I made a crap movie with friends for $2000. Honestly, we knew it wasn't good, but it ended up better than we thought it would be. I get your point, but it falls back into the same problem of nostalgia marketing. When we are so easily manipulated because the movie is part of a franchise, we only support the same franchises. When we look at movies as a franchise, we lose sight of the individual films which allows disney to continue making more crap. I refuse to do this. Let them go, stop giving them money and look around. There's a lot of new filmmakers and stories being made. They're just buried or looking for funding. As a horror fan, I've seen what happens when art becomes a product (friday, nightmare, Halloweenetc...). It sucks. But, theres always new surprises and stories. We just have to seek it out. Eventually, you find movies like Trick R' Treat, Behing the mask, Henry: Portrait of a serial Killer, equillibrium, don't breath, Saw 1 (another victim of franchising), etc. Star wars ended, but the matrix was amazing and not noticed until after theaters. Lord of The Rings was Given to a b-grade director who made gore flicks. He made one movie in 3 parts. It was an epic film experiment. There's hope, one just has to open his/her eyes. Star wars sucked since the phantom menace. We were all pulled into that series because we wanted to see a new star wars film in theaters. That was the audience's mistake. What followed was epic trash. People defend star wars as though the prequels were okay. They were not. We were just too busy getting a nostalgia hit to notice at the time. Now, because of that reaction, Lucas films and Disney thought they could revisit the series and make tons of cash. I hoped the audience would have known better. They didn't. Now, a bunch of people are angry because Star Wars is just another series. Well, if the audience and haters keep watching it, Disney will continue to make worse sequels. I liked him in Near Dark and The Wrong Guys. The Wrong Guys was terrible, but Tim Thomerson has that likable quality to him that you spoke of. He could do everything from drama, comedy, horror, and action. He's like Robert Picardo in that sense. Icehouse's great southern Land was awesome for its soundtrack. It's a dumb movie, but fun if you're looking for a cheap laugh. Same Sometimes, you gotta take a minute to recover after a hard hit. Plus, a couple gunshots draw attention from the police. I forgot about him. His character's wife stole the show in that scene. True. I just wanted to see the work in progress. It's interesting to see sculping.
