This tune is part of brilliant three-song mini-suite that closes the record: “From There to Back Again” (Al Jardine on lead vocals) “Pacific Coast Highway” and “Summer’s Gone.” The suite reminds me of things the Beach Boys did on Pet Sounds and the Smile Sessions and they are truly as good as anything from the band’s late 60’s heyday. All three songs merge together and feel very sentimental and meant as a career curtain call. I really feel the blues when I listen to them. The vocals are fantastic for a bunch of 70+ year olds but the final song ends with the singing fading into waves quietly breaking on the beach. It really suggests that this was intended as the Beach Boys’ final statement to the world as a full band. I highly recommend the album for this suite alone

This is like saying, “what’s the big deal if the cops stop and search you for no reason? It’s not necessarily going to lead to arrests.” I think you’re reacting like you’re on sedatives or something. Each step in this direction is closer to people being arrested or their lives destroyed because they said something that the government interpreted as hateful. You should imagine this power in the hands of the political party you don’t like and then see if you can say, “Oh well it’s not going to be that bad and maybe we’ll get our right to speech back in the future”
You’re making it sound like it’s no big deal and people should not worry about a Western government’s vastly overbroad speech restrictions. Just be patient and your unalienable speech rights will eventually be returned to you. Hopefully when Humza leaves office.

If you don’t want to read my answer, don’t read it. But don’t pretend it’s some kind of burden when you’ve got 5-6 paragraphs yourself in this thread.
I care because I’m an American who wants the White House treated in a dignified manner as a symbol of American prestige.
I was sarcastic in my post to show contempt for Yatzo’s use of passive voice and the word “during” to suggest the Trump White House also celebrated the Trans Day of Visibility. If it happened - which I genuinely doubt - it did not produce the undignified and discrediting spectacle seen in this video from Biden’s massive Pride event on White House grounds.
And yes, I do believe Montoya’s behavior was characteristic of a general lack of decorum and modesty within the boundary-pushing trans community. She was not the only trans visitor who took her top off with White House as backdrop. After she was ejected, she doubled down on her supposed right to whip her breasts out and bounce them in her hands for a solid minute on camera moments after shaking the president’s hand. No one at the event intervened. It took more than a week for her unrepenting non-apology. If you find some condemnation among in the Trans community media or social influencers, I’m interested to see it. I recall nothing but crickets from that direction.

What’s your source for this CDC statement? It makes no mention of the measles outbreak in Chicago that you’re connecting it to and it’s talking about 2018 which would pre-date the COVID “anti-vaxxer” phenomena by like two or three years. Everything I’m reading about the current Chicago outbreak is tracing it to Pilsen Migrant Shelter.
