I never saw Wandavision but I assume she became a villain in that because it kinda comes out of nowhere in this film.
They basically just threw this character under the bus. Weird.
Hope she's gone for good because redeeming her would be a joke.

Did you miss Age of Ultron and Civil War? And yes, she does bad in Wanda Vision.
I think you'd have to see WandaVision to see the progression and what's going on with her. I actually like this arc and hope she comes back to be redeemed. If this Dark Hold book is what's causing her to do what's she's doing, she's being possessed like the One Ring of power.
I was just thinking how refreshing it was that we actually got to see a 'good guy' turn evil. sure, they started her off as a villain but it was more like a misguided child than anything in Ultron. What's happening with Wanda, in my opinion, was the story arc I wanted to see with Anakin in the prequels. Anakin's seemed so rushed and forced and out of nowhere. They didn't do anything with him for 2 movies and it all fell on us at the end of 'Revenge'. I never felt anything for him because it was so forced/fake. This kind of Slow burn (is that a pun?) is what I wanted through those 3 movies. You routed for Wanda in the beginning, wanted her to succeed and felt where she was coming from. then to see her go nuts after Vision's death really resonated and made sense. People go through that kind of trauma all the time but they don't have the power to act on it. Though it's fun seeing bad guys turn into heroes, like Loki, we don't get a lot of heroes falling to the 'dark side' in the MCU and I really liked it. Of course I think the ending felt a little rushed and maybe some tightening up of the movie in places could have allowed time for her to have a little more breathing room with her 'sacrifice' but I have a feeling we are going to see her again so I'm not worried her story is not going to continue.
I want to count Bucky as part of the hero to villain arc but it doesn't really count for me since the brainwashing thing took the choice away and he got redeemed in the Winter Soldier. Wanda's story is really interesting in it's her own desires and addiction to the power causing her to do what she's doing.
Yep, it was poor script writing on the movie's part to assume the audience watched WandaVision to understand the main villain's turn in the movie. They should've somehow expressed this in the movie before her initial scene/reveal.

The Disney+ shows are basically "homework" now.
"Oh, you want to understand this character's backstory or motivations? Well, you shoulda watched the show like a 'real fan' would!"
I agree that Marvel isn't making enough effort to make each of their films stand alone. There have been bad examples before this, such as "Endgame" and "Infinity War" where you had to have seen "Thor: Ragnarok" and "And Man 2" to understand certain plot twists, or even the opening of the first film!
But this is the worst example yet, you really have to have seen "Wandavision" to have a hint of a clue about Wanda's motivation. Now I understand Marvel's interest in making sure their fans see each and every film and show lest they miss a mandatory plot twist, but don't they understand that this strategy keeps people from becoming new fans? Seriously, could a Marvel noob make ANY sense of this movie?
That's the main thing I enjoyed about Moon Knight. The show was fine & was carried by Oscar Isaac.
But what I loved most about it was that it was self contained. It wasn't an ad for the MCU. It wasn't constantly referencing the MCU & its events. And it wasn't trying to set-up the next MCU project.
I love the MCU but I'm really not loving phase 4. Especially how almost every new project seems like an ad for an upcoming show or film
Also, they released 18 films in a decade, leading up to Infinity War. So far in just the past year & a half, they've released 12 projects already. That's 5 films & 7 shows.
And we're still halfway through the year. I absolutely LOVE the genre but I feel like these companies are gonna flood/oversaturate the market.
Quality over quantity.
If Marvel is saturating the market, I suspect that Disney is putting pressure on them to create shit-tons of new product, because continuous new Marvel and Star Wars content is one of the big selling points for Disney Plus. And I have to say that Marvel has delivered, most of their Disney Plus shows have been good-to-terrific.
Excellent point about "Moon Knight", BTW, it's a genuine stand-alone, and so was "Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings". "Winter Soldier", "Loki", and "Hawkeye", on the other hand, require you to have seen most of the Marvel movies. "Ms. Marvel", still in progress and lots of fun so far, only refers occasionally to the greater Marvel Universe. It's... fairly stand-alone.

It's already over saturated. If you include DC and all the superhero tv shows ans movies between both companies....we hit saturation years ago...

Even I think that's a bit much & I'm a huge comicbook fan.
That is too many, unless the plan is to do like Coca-Cola does - put so damn many products on the shelves that there's literally no room for their competitor's products!

Same thing happened with the comics. You had to buy other issues if titles you didnt collect to get the whole story. It part of what almost killed the comic industry. To many books and crossovers. Now they continually reboot and still do crossovers. So they havent really learned their lesson...😂
That's one of the main reasons I fell off of comics. It was really fun when I was growing up but it honestly just became super frustrating to keep up with everything the older I got.
