Actually a pretty good dark comedy

Really sad this got dumped in theaters with no marketing during the pandemic. It's actually a pretty solid dark comedy/mystery movie. If you're a fan of either certainly worth checking out.

It's a pretty good dark comedy up until it's final third and in turns into a dark thriller about young man on downspiral.

I remember everyone from Red Letter Media and major critics praising the hell out of the film. If the film probably had a bigger name director and star in the lead with a bigger film company backing it. It probbaly would have done a lot better even having it on streaming site like Netflix or Amazon with their backing would have probably benefitted it.

It's a great film, with Adam Brody giving the performance of his life. I think some will find the switch of tones a little jarring and upsetting but that's why I love the film.

In my opinion, the best films are the ones which manage to push several buttons at once.

Agreed, I think it's third act for me with Kid Detective that really made it a great film for me. Abe's life isn't really there to be taken as a joke, he's suffering from addiction and depression. The moment he goes on his last binge the film just turns into a dark drama thriller, the comedy stuff is gone and even Caroline who was this bubbly loveable character isn't really in the film again until last few minutes. It's first time a film that done that for me in a long time. And it definitely stays with you.
