If you haven't watched it yet... then read this short note

If you haven't watched it yet... then give it a miss. It is one of those annoying movies where you will find yourself screaming at the screen "run away from there!", "get the hell out of there!" AND the characters do otherwise!

I would rather watch Hereditary (from the same director) twice than this boring one. Just my opinion after watching it on Netflix.

That’s right folks avoid this movie because biziguy didn’t like it. Most people liked it BUT biziguy didn’t like it so you probably won’t like it either.

big "zit" guy sounds like he's dumber than a box of rocks.

I thought the film was a lame rip-off of the original Wicker Man with Christopher Lee. In any case, I was deeply disturbed by the gory murder of the old couple who jumped off of the cliff, it was gore porn for the sake of it, no need for that scene at all.

reply

Well the genre is called horror for a reason, it’s supposed to elicit horror.

reply

You can have horror without excessive gore, you know.

reply

Yes but personally if a scene in a horror movie deeply disturbs me I consider it a positive. I’m not sure why you wouldn’t want to be horrified while watching a horror movie.

reply

It seemed like torture of the old couple, when they were mortally wounded after falling. The people who killed them seemed to be relishing it. It's this sort of torture porn that turned me off the Passion of the Christ, and I haven't seen any of the Saw movies because they also had the same sort of thing.

I like horror like IT, Babadook and Conjuring, stuff like that, but the above goes a bit too far.

reply

Oh great... I hated Hereditary and the snooze fest that it was. I guess I’ll really be missing this one. Thanks for the heads up!

reply

There's nothing more pretentious than telling people not to watch a movie because YOU didn't like it.

Do you honestly think your tastes are universal?

reply

I watched it and think it's much better than Hereditary, and I think Hereditary is excellent. Midsommar is just that much better.

reply

I actually enjoyed Midsommar more than Hereditary. Both are great though.
