The Agent character

I think the movie mostly depends on being a Beatles fan. If you're not, it might be tough going.

But one aspect that's interesting even for non-fans is the cynical agent character. She's horrible, but knows she's horrible, is fine with it and freely admits it to everyone. Maybe not so surprising a take -- the secretly nasty agent has been done so many times before -- but it's interesting to see how some parts of the biz work from the inside.

She was great!

Sorry. Her character was absolutely a pit in this film. Luckily the film was strong enough to overcome it. This is not a come down on Kate, it’s the character. Too freaking comical and out of context/flow with the rest of the film.

I grant your point that she was operating in a different gear from almost everyone else, but I enjoyed it. I say “almost” because his doofus roadie buddy was pretty broad as well.

Agreed - every time she came on screen I felt myself being pulled out of the film. Her cynicism and negativity were totally out of place, and it made me start to dislike the main character because he kept taking her s*** without saying anything. He may not have been the most stand-up guy, but he was never shown as a pushover until she arrived. Literally everything she said to him was negative (you're ugly, an idiot, boring etc) but he just kept taking it. Seemed like a weird decision on the part of the filmmakers to have her behaving in such a way, more like a caricature than an actual person. Sadly, it really took away form my enjoyment of the film...
