there is no way this show is 6.9 on imdb.

how can anyone watch this show and not shit on it? it's like every man in this show is just a prop for the woman to have a story and look good.

reply

Amazon owns IMDb, unfortunately, and so they're deleting as many negative reviews as they can get away with, to save face with their extremely flawed and boring waste-of-money TV show.

Yes, MovieChat is NOT Imdb, but the former does relay the latter's ratings for movies and TV shows.

reply

And even deleting bad scores and reviews and boosting it with farmbots, they only can get the score to 6.9.

reply

Not everyone is a fragile incel.

reply

You're right. They're generally leftists.

reply

It would have an elevated score based on the sets and costumes alone. I think the show is beautiful BUT the casting/writing stinks. Casual fans might not recognize lore discrepancies or even the wokeness. I gave it a 6/10 even though it is a warped deconstruction of Tolkien's work by writers who probably never read Tolkien and fired the Tolkien expert Tom Shipley.

reply

"who probably never read Tolkien and fired the Tolkien expert Tom Shipley"
That's ANOTHER great reason not to watch this complete and utter CRAP FANFICTION!

Tom Shipley was no doubt fired because he represented JRR Tolkien the most accurately in regard to his wishes about how his works should be adapted, but Amazon no doubt said to Shipley, "why should we listen to the words of a guy who's long been bones in the grounds and whom the maggots and worms finished with decades ago, and why the FUCK should we listen to YOU, old FART? GETOUTTAHERE! WE own Lord of the Rings now, not any of you old fogies! We'll fucking write it the way WE want to write it, senile old bastard!"

In other words, incredibly disrespectful to both men.

reply

Good points. We have to hope that the desecration of great literary works by Amazon and other horrible companies will result in financial ruin. Amazon already changed the lore of the Wheel of Time and they are doing it again with Middle-Earth. I might have to drop the score to a 5/10 after watching more of this nonsense.

reply

The costumes are awful.

reply

Most of the costumes looked good to me but I don't have a background in fashion. I get more excited about armor and weapons and they look good to me.

reply

The armour also looks terrible.

reply

The armor is the worst ...compare it to LotR movies and it's almost comical.

reply

if you take out the wokeness, this show is a middling medieval fantasy show on the caliber of something like nbc or abc. it's loosely acted and loosely directed. it's terribly cast too. none of the people in it have charisma or any sort of special feature that pulls you in. compare this to something like boardwalk empire where virtually every one cast was extremely interesting. a better example is game of thrones i guess although the casting in that wasnt quite as good.

reply

It's the most expensive show ever so it at least looks good. They should rename it the Rings of Girl Power since the ladies all seem to be leading the charge. The youtuber Nerdrotic called it Rings of Girl Power so I can't take credit for that one.
Based on the first five episodes, I would rate it a 5/10. I would rate it a 7/10 BUT I take off two points for mangling/ignoring Tolkien lore. I HATE that LOTR is even listed in the title since this has very little to do with LOTR.

I'm also mad that the writers have turned this into a mystery show. Amazon also tried to turn the Wheel of Time into a mystery over the identity of the Dragon BUT the identity of the Dragon should never have been in doubt. We presently don't know the true identity of Meteor Man, Halbrand, Adar and the elves in white robes.

reply

It actually looks CHEAP to me, to be honest. I always thought Jackson's LOTR movies looked realistic and gritty, but this looks like a weird brightly-coloured cross between a school drama and GoT.

Reviews from consistent reviewers (who seem to be rating the series well) hold more weight than someone who just randomly goes to IMDb to review bomb it or a handful of films that they hate. It’s part of the rating formula.
