It's not often that a scene shocks me but the last time his wife talks to him sent shivers down my spine because this really happened (or at least something very similar to it)

After Lebasov's speech, it was very clear they would die and suffer. I Wonder why they didn't kill them before to avoid suffering.

shareIt's like we kind of knew what to expect but we got to know him a little before it happened, saw his concerns for what was happening around him at the site, and his wife still loved and adored and hoped for him right til the end. To see him end up like that was sad and shocking.
shareIndeed because we got to know him early I just knew he was in for a world of pain after being close/touching all that nuclear fuel.
shareI know, right. Knowing what was in store for those men, once it became clear that a man was doomed, I would have given him a morphine overdose to ease his way out. No one ought to die that way.
shareI wonder why the doctors or even a nurse just didn't end his suffering (may have something with soviet indoctrination or fear of consequences) but leaving him like that was just inhumane.
